Had a call from hospital today I've been approved for bypass but got to get blood sugar under control I was only diagnosed in Feb with diabetes and saw nurse and she said wasn't too high and didn't need tablets but hospital are going on same blood results and said it too high won't op till number down. Any one else had same problem

well I have diabetes and my blood sugar is 8 or below but I am on tablets for it I think it should not matter how high it is but as long as you are trying to control it any number over 8 and the hospital are right about going on tablets but just try and avoid as much sugar as possible and you should be ok.

Thanks think it was 8.5 in Feb had bloods done again last week waiting for results from them I'm at docs Monday to sort out tablets.

When I first found out I cut all sugars and ended up poorly dizzy and blurred vision had some sugar and I was fine.

sometimes that happens to me I cut sugars out and then i feel faint and dizzy. So a sweet drink always helps.

Hiya, I was type 2 prior to my bypass & my diabetic nurse liked me to keep my sugars below 6.5. If you're showing 8 they will attempt to get you to 6.5 thru diet control. If not then they'll try metformin.
The reason the hospital want it under control is that high sugars can affect recovery as it can stop wounds healing etc.
fingers crossed your next results are down :) x

Thank you see doc Monday to see what last results was and if need owt to take it down. Always thirsty all time so guessing not gone down. Thanks

i'm diabetic and mine were high and they delayed progress by three months until sugar levels were below 75mol. apparently the dietician said these were nice guidelines and i could not be seen until they were lowered. good luck
