Difficult day doubts in my head

Today has been the most difficult for me, coming to terms with not eating real food for a while.
Also being lighter than I have for two years my husband is finding it difficult to grasp that if I can diet part of the time why cannot I diet all of the time.
Also I have been reading a lot of posts today and a lot of people don't lose quickly with the band as they do with other operations.
I know its normal to have all these feelings and I will have to remain positive or I'll be on the crisps and then I will undo the good I have done.

Dear durhamlass ...
I know exactly how you feel ... try to stay focussed , i have also heard that 'diet'line ... but as we know its just not that simple , if it was, there wouldnt be 1000's of people in the same boat ? You will find some excellent advice and support on her , i have , so keep in touch on here and we will all keep your spirits up. Try to be focussed, you have already worked wonders ! you should be very proud of yourself (sorry if i sound patronizing) You can do this ... maybe your hubby could have a look on here and see for himself the fantastic results and advantages to weight loss surgery ? Take care xx

The 'real food' will come soon, but small portions!
Ask your hubby what helps him at times of stress, happiness, misery etc could he live without it for a month or two?Yes,so can we live without our crutch;food. But after that couple of months its not so easy. Its not just a case of eat less exersize more its a hell of a lot more complex than that.Maz x

As everyone has said try and stay focussed and concentrate on you - ignore everyone else. Sometimes you have to be a bit selfish - it's your health that is at stake here - what could be more important?

As for the rate of weight loss with the band - yes it is not as rapid but it is as effective as the bypass and the losses even out over a couple of years if you compare the surgeries. It took a while to put on the excess so it will take as long to get it off. If you start comparing the losses of those with the bypass or indeed anyone else whatever the procedure then you will get yourself into problems. This is YOUR journey. Enjoy the scenic route.

Hi

I think we have all been there hun, its only natural to have concerns.

From your stats you have less weight to lose than I did - its totally do - able if your prepared to commit to the new way of eating and an exercise regime.

You can do it and we are all here to support you, I'm sure in time your hubbie will realise how important this is for you.

Good luck xxxx

defo agree that when u join this site ur overwhelmed by how fantastic the bypassers have done...they have worked their butts off, but they do face a much bigger life change then banders....IMHO! as they will need to have multivits/injections plus they can dump which means u gotta be careful what u eat.

the band isnt as wow...it requires a lot of hard work as well but its defo a tool that will helpo us do the 'diet' long term and not give in after a 5 day love affair!

im 9days post op and trust me....this is not an easy option...u work hard at it but its blooming good to know u r taking weight off and fingers xd keeping it off

good luck!

I'm in the early days of the whole process so have no advice but I do think the concerns you are voicing are normal and to be expected xx

Thanks Clare
Its really difficult when everyone around you is telling you not to do it, I appreciate your contact
xx

I have one friend who is against my decision, and is constantly telling me horror stories, and trying to change my mind ... i know that she does really care about me , but i think it boils down to jealousy and the fact that i have a second chance, she has always battled with her weight , and even went to a hynotherapist who can 'put you through the operation' and make you feel as though you have had WL Surgery, just to proove that i didnt need it , it hasnt really worked for her (shock, horror) so i have decided that if she cant support me , she doesnt need to know anything about it , so i haven't told her about my appointment. Have the people around you got the same reason to be unsupportive ? Maybe they have genuine cause for concern ? maybe you could say to them , i want to do it , and i can do it with your support , if you dont support me it will be more difficult ....The last thing you need is a bunch of "i told you so's" if you are feeling poorly after surgery.... please rest assured that you will get all the support you need here... i have just posted a new thread 'any regrets?'... have a look at that, its overwhelming. Please try to stay strong, you could also list pro's and con's and see how they balance out? i was nervous about my decision until i joined this site ... now im counting the sleeps!!! We are all in this together ....Try to be strong... this chubby club is the best place to be i promise you xxx:p

Hi durham, i am havin the same problem at the moment, i have my sister who is doing the same cause she is worried and she will be the biggest out of the 3 of us ( i have 2 sisters) one is only 8 stone the other is about 11 half-12. and them me, i know its worry as well but i think go with your heat, i am really worrying at the present and i am havin second thoughts as well, but i know i will just eat, and eat and eat till i pop ;(.
Keep positive and go with yur gut feeling you know u are making the right choice, food will always be there and its not like any other addiction you need food to live so u cant just stop it and go cold turkey.
Hang on in there, my friend had a band 18 month ago and has lost 7 stone she looks fab as well.

Howdy!! I'm feeling your pain!!! I went private and as we all know it's a lot of money and in this climate my Boyd could not understand why I had to spend all this money when I knew what to do for free!!!

I am 7 wks post op now (gastric band) and it has fallen off quicker than I thought... Everybody is different and it may take longer but in the long run we all get to the end result..... A much happier and healthier way of living!!!

Xx
