Before I had my surgery, I watched a clip or two on Youtube about an American lass who'd had a bypass. One clip was about all the untensils she'd bought.

On the strength of that, I bought a couple of cute little dishes from Ikea to eat from, to help with my portion sizes.
I fond some more really cute ones yesterday, in all sorts of colours and shapes.
I'm finding they do really help to control my portion sizes. Mine are about the size of a Chinese soup bowl.

That's a good idea :) I have some cute ones from Lakeland (Miniamo) and I use them a lot.
Apparently bright pink dishes are supposed to help with reducing appetite! I think I will have to add some Barbie bowls to my collection !

LOL I love pink, I shall have to try to find some!

Hi Charis,
I'm new here and still in the very early stages.I am waiting for my first letter to see the surgeon. I hope you dont mind me asking how long did you have to wait until you see the surgeon for the first time?? Thank you xx

This sounds like an excellent plan, at the minute i use a little side plate but it's all very boring that way! Feeling a shopping trip coming on me thinks :) xx

Oooh Julie, Ikea have some lovely ones! Some are square or oblong, very oriental looking, I got some really pretty duck egg blue ones, and a lovely black one with polka dots on the inside. It's an excellent shape and size too, and came in a 2 bowl set!

Little things please me!:D

I think I'm going to look for some nice diddy forks to use too to help with bite sizes. :)

I agree dishing up your meal on a side plate will really help with portion control, because unfortunately our heads still say, I want to eat all that food......and our stomachs say go on I will dare you!!! Pouchy always wins.....LOL But I found having a smaller plate helped.....go on treat yourselves to a really nice set.....you haven't got to buy the dinner service....................

Oh they sound nice, there is an Ikea over the road from where I work.

I use my daughters barbie plate because at 8 she thinks she is far too grown up for it so she has now let me have it. She eats more than me now too!

What a fabulous idea. I have loads of childrens plates and bowls here and just assumed I'd use them. But I'd rather have some funky grown up crockery.

Yayyyyyy maybe I won't have to use the "night garden" bowl or the "thomas the tank" plate. I already evicted the "power rangers" set......oh the joys of having 4 children and being a childminder! :8855:

i thought it was just me eating off a spiderman plate!
