Does anyone else write food diaries?

I have just started to write down what i'm eating & drinking as the last couple of weeks (yes even over christmas!) i can't always remember if i've eaten!
I just wondered if anyone else does this.....hope you are all well....i'm heading towards 17 stone now so very happy with that, last time i was anywhere near that weight was hhhmmm 20 yrs ago!!

I have to complete a food and activity diary as part of my hospital weight management programme. I find it really helps me - and stops me cheating!

I fill in the food diary on myfitnesspal.com, not every day as I forget sometimes. The onyl time I forget to eat is if I go out and Im busy, if Im in the house I usually eat a bit of something every couple of hours. :D Well done on heading towrds the 17 stone mark ;) XX

I keep a mental check list but I'm thinking of doing a food diary for a few weeks to ensure i'm eating enoughof the right things. I do tend to forget to eat if i'm out and about and busy. I notice when I begin to feel a bit light headed and my tum feels really empty - usually about 10 hours of no food by then!
Well done on your great progress and the smaller sizes!
Grace xxx

I keep on one my website... although right now I have terrible cravings and no amount of fruit can take them away

You need to make 50 posts before some priviledges kick in so get on the word association threads and you will soon make it to 50 :D Like the new pic by the way....would be nicer to see your face though :D XX

Awww Em., it doesn't seem like two minutes since we were in touch and you were at the hospital and all of that weight... gone forever... I'm so proud of you and I'm going to be doing a food diary post op... loving hugs Em and great to see you posting again... Bev xxx

Thanks Lucy... it's a great way of recording and keeping track... love and hugs... xxx

just done a food diary for today on Myfitnesspal - so far today i've had only 500 calories!

I wonder if my slow weight loss is down to eating too little? It's got me wondering after seeing how much that chap on Britain's Fattest Man ate post-op and still lost oodles of weight.:eek:

I'm really going to try to up my food intake, especially the protein.

Me too Grace, Ive had 452 today! And I feel like Ive had quite a lot. I do try and eat mostly protien, after years doing red days on SW it is OK for me. I usually get my protein right but my calorie count is almost always below 1000 cals. Im going to ask Chris the dietician about it next week :D XX

You're losing weight really well though aren't you Dotty? so it looks like your body hasn't gone into starvation mode. Myfitness pal just told me that's what my body is probably doing.
Thinking back to my first few weeks post-op, I snacked on babybel lights quite a lot. So the protein was upped. I've gone off them but I'm going to try to eat them in any case!

Im loosing OK Grace, I seem to have small or no loss then a 3-5lb loss so Im happy with it. My fitness pal does say my body will be in starvation mode with what Im eating though....says it every day  XX

How's you hair doing Dotty?

It has started to come out!! Not lots at the moment but enough to worry me as I have very thin hair at the front anyway. Im going to see the GP as my discharge letter said to prescribe me zinc after 3 months if needed :D I might need to invest in a rug soon, I hope not though as I cant stand a hat on my head even so I dont think I could wear a wig  XX

I've been taking zinc for a month...still no effect. My hair is really thin now. I'm having it cut on Monday. :(
I've just had a ryvita with a slice of wafer thin raost beef and Branston pickle. I'm going to try to up my calories a bit. i hope it helps.
MyFitnesspal predicts I'll only lose a pound a week because of under-eating, which is spot on, it's what's been happening: so maybe this will help!:8855::8855:
I can't believe I actually need to eat more! How times have changed!

Lol...I know it seems so alien to think I might not be eating enough!! Very weird! Im going to try and get a bit more down too, mainly protein though and hope that staves off the worst of the hair loss  Hope you like your new hair cut...I think it will do your hair good :D XX
