its usually just bypass patients at Sunderland i had it done and it was bloody awfull, dont quote me on it but they dont do it to bandys !!! well never used too x
I have to have a camera before I can have my band, it's standard at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. They also do some kind of throat muscle test but only for people with diabetes
I had my endoscopy on the 15th June and will have my esophageal manometry on the 27th July at the Royal Bristol Infirmary.
As slimbydecember said it is standard at Southmead Hospital in Bristol
I didn’t have the sedation; it’s all over in about 10 minutes. The worse part was the taste of the numbing spray they use; it was supposed to taste of bananas (it doesn’t). You can say you don’t want the sedation and if you find you can manage they will stop and give you the sedation it’s all done in the same room so they don’t mind you trying it without the sedation first if you want. If you can manage without the sedation you get to go home as soon as you have finished reading the information they give you after the endoscopy. If you have sedation you have to stay there for 1 to 3 hours after the endoscopy.
I had camera down but I'm getting a bypass. It says in leaflet that you have to stay 1-3 hours but I was out within 30 minutes & I mean that literally. I didn't even have time to get offered a cuppa & sarnie like other people did. My dad hadn't got home (he lives 20-30 minute drive away) when I rang for him to collect me. It suited me so don't think I'm complaining 'cos I just wanted to be home!!
I will recommend sedation without a doubt although it didn't properly kick in with me until I got home!! Ha, ha
