is having the camera down as bad as ive been told ?

Lesley, how come you nodded off during the procedure ? I had throat spray and extra IV sedation as i was a tad on the hysterical side lol, and i still didn't nod off ! Felt very drunk and giggly afterwards though, hubby thought it was highly amusing.
If i had to have it done again i would insist on all the IV sedation i could get my hands on but probably say no to the throat spray as the numbing sensation made me panic a bit, but then i am a bit of a wuss !
All in all, its over with very quickly x x

sorry to see youve had probems with your 2nd band, and good luck with your choice to bypass.
Re the camera, I have a very strong gag reflex, the first one I had wasnt so good, the second I insisted on sedation and spray. It doesnt take me too long to come round from sedation so was up and about in no time anyway. Just remember you wont be able to drive afterwards if you are sedated though

free happy juice i deffo want that hha but as ya no when im on any form of happy juice i make a Arse of me self lololol

I've had two recently in order to stretch out a stenosis around the entrance to my pouch. The first one was better as I think I had more sedation but the worse bit is definitely the throat spray but as the doctor said, I'd regret it after if I didn't have it and I did have a sore throat after. When they were wheeling me back to my room I was belching and farting like a trooper as they had to inflate me! lol
The second one was worse as I had a lighter sedation and I woke up in the middle of the procedure and gagged badly. It helps if you breathe in through your nose during the procedure as you don't panic as much.
It isn't a pleasant procedure at all but it's over with quickly and the sedation definitely helps.

I don't know, he told me to relax so I did lol! Touch of the "sleeping on a washing line" skills, once the camera was past my gag reflex I was fine, I went to sleep as far as I know, don't know how long I was under or anything, but Trev told me I was out of his sight for 20 minutes and that allowed for recovery time also!

Hi liz i had camera down, i had throat spray it was uncomfortable but it only lasted afew mins, nurse and doctor were brill make you feel really as ease. wendy

I'm so glad I read this thread. I have just got my appointment letter thru for 19t May (my sons') birthday. I had a horrendous experience with Dr Nylander when he tried to put camera down last September.
I explained my concerns to Mr Small so he is doing it this time & I am going to ask for the sedation as Dr Nylander wouldn't let me last time. I have a very sensitive gag reflux!!!

today i have recieved an appontment for the camera down on May 11th at 3 oclock with Mr Balupuri, i have a form to fill in and i have a option of sedation or local anaesthesia. So hopefully after that i wont have to long to wait for a pre op assesment and a op date.

yes this is the same form i recieved this morning there is an option to tick if you want sedation but you will have to stay on ward until it wears off, is yours with Mr B ? our appointments are only 1 week apart so we may get our op dates near each other as well, but mine might need done in 2 stages. I will have a chat with you tomorrow if you can make the meeting x

I will tell you tomorrow Liz, get the camera & tripod down at 1100 (Sunderland). Will take the advice from others and ask for sedation, loads of it! Speak soon, Paul xive been told by the surgeon i will need a camera down before i can proceede to a bypass, ive been told its not a nice experience ?? how have you lot found this experience please be honest...... thanks

Liz i had the camera down at 6pm on the 5th aug 09 always remember day as granddaughter was born, i had spray, as i said before its uncomfortable but i managed. then i had app with Mr Small 23rd Nov o9 where he put me on waiting list then i had op 18wks later 30th march 2010. hope tha helps, but saying that you might get op sooner good luck wendyx
