SARAH S

Here comes the new me
I am in the process of launching a new branch of my catering business and would like some info from all you brilliant peeps out there.

I'm compiling a list of Family Favourite Meals, you know the kind of thing....that special comforting meal that is the only thing that will do after something special, or happy/sad event or just because its Saturday type of meal.......I know that some are on their milk/ pre op diets and hope this isn't too much to ask ......

My list would be for little girl, Spaghetti Bolognese, Gammon Steak and Chicken Curry with no sauce!!!
My dads wouldbe Extra hot Beef Curry, Extra Hot Chicken Curry and Extra Extra hot Curry!!
OH would choose Cheese and potato bake, toad in the hole and Moules n frites

The more of your suggestions the better...thanks x

I would imagine a lot of peoples favourite dinner would be a Roast dinner - I like several meals I class as a favourite - Fish Fingers & chips, Liver & Bacon with Mash & Crab Meat & sweetcorn soup - mmmmmmmm

Mine is medium rare sirloin steak, with steamed vegetables, new potatoes and peppercorn sauce. Or roast beef/chicken with lots of veg and yourkshire pudding. Lastly Carnita's with green rice and pineapple salsa.

Hands down winner, Roast chicken dinner (got to be a free range chicken from a proper butcher) with all the trimmings followed by trifle - I don't actually trifle, but husband loves it so I always think of the two together.

Homemade choritzo and mushroom risotto made with a full glass of white wine and loads of fresh parmesan, soooo fattening but so nice. :eat:

Posted this before on other threads. My boyfriend is Italian & loves this. It is quite good for us post opers especially if you can't tolerate rice or are a vegetarian ( use appropriate cheese).
250 g Fregola
1 chicken stock cube made up with 500 ml boiling water
Handful of cubed pancetta
Small red onion chopped*
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 sliced courgette
2 tablespoons of toasted pine nuts
Handful of cherry tomatoes halved
Grated Pecorino or Parmesan cheese*
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Sweat onions & garlic until translucent. Add pancetta & courgette slices. Cook until done.
Add Fregola & coat with mix then add stock. Cover & cook for 30 mins or until Fregola soft. You may need to top up with a little water.
Serve with pine nuts, cherry tomatoes & grated cheese.
You could use olive oil fry light & go careful on cheese to reduce fat.

My family's home cooked favourites are -

mince and dumplings
toad in the hole
lasagne
roast dinners
shepherds pie
chicken fajitas
chilli con carne
sausage and mash
corned beef hash / sausage hash
half of us love bobotie (south african meatloaf type dish) and the other half hate it!

Sausage mash n baked beans
Cheese n onion pie
hotdogs with fried onions :)
Pâté with toasted brioche
= sweet dreams :D
