just feeling really tearfull today, not sure why... could be to do with my diabetis.... checked my glucose and it was 8.1 which is the highest it has been since before op. i rang the hospital and she has said not to worry and to keep and eye on it over the next couple of days, then if its still high then start my metformin again... the consultant this cos im stressed my levels have creeped up.
i cant stop crying at the moment... i think i will be better when i can get back to work and be round people...im getting fed up with being at home on my own all day, with the odd shopping trip when friends are available x

Awww sweetheart I really feel for you. The tearfulness is probably due to the surgery as I have heard loads of people say that they get really low for a time following it. As for your blood glucose levels being higher than normal, please try not to worry about it, mine went very high and stuck at around 11 - 13 following my bypass but gradually they came back down all by themselves. There is inner stress due to the healing from the operation that can raise your bg levels but as you heal and your weight comes down you will see a huge improvement.

Hope you are feeling better soon :)

Thankyou Josiegirl, i will see how my glucose levels are today and hopefully they will go down again. if not i will take the consultants advise and at the weekend start my metformin again x

awww honey, im sorry i have no words of wisdom, just hope you feel better soon :) xxx

Bless you Rayne x. I think your tearfulness is probably a mixture of all sorts of things. I've been crying at the drop of a hat recently and I think it is due to being stuck in the house, recovering from the op, Xmas time of the year, subconsciously missing "normal" food, missing work (never though I would ever say That!) weight loss stalls etc etc etc ... and all with too much time to think about it! once we get back to normal life and the old routine our heads will start to get over the MAJOR op that we have just had.

As for your diabetes, do as the experts say and keep an eye on it.

Just remember you are at the beginning of a new, even lovelier you and it will take just a little time to appreciate the benefits of this surgery ..... and more importantly .... you DESERVE IT!!!

Keep smiling Rayne ... we'll get there!

Ahh, bless you! I too was very emotional for a good couple of weeks post op. I went through a whole list of emotions, I felt anxious, tearful, etc etc.... But it felt like as my body healed on the inside my emotions got better too. Now I'm pretty much 'normal' lol.
Hope you feel better soon.
We're all here for you for support if you have any worries. Xx

Sending you a hug Rayne. 8.1 is not massively high, it will probably go down in the next couple of weeks as you start to feel better. xx

i had this too ................ i was'nt told by the l&d that i should've been taking my metformin after my op and my sugars went into the 10-12 range but they put me back on the insulin now my highest readings are just over the 6 mark

so stop worrying they'll sort you out in no time

(((((hugs)))) i know the feeling... i been crying all day on and off... maybe its just the time of year.... hope you feel better soon xx

It's been a full moon this week so that probably isn't helping either! Don't worry about your blood glucose, the more active you get it will come down, also if your still on purée that can make your sugars go up as its higher GI when purée. Hope you feel better tomorrow xx

Thankyou everyone for cheering me up loads... i did have a bad day today... but i spoke to NHS direct and they told me to take a couple of paracetomol as the thought i might have a virus or cold, as i had the shivers all days today and just couldnt get warm... been to our local walk in centre tonight and the doc checked my bloods, temperature and my wee and all ok... he said my wee was ok and had some k thingies in... i asked what!! and he said they are bits of fat so my body is fat burning and that is good.... so i feel a lot better knowing nothing bad is going on... ive been told to wrap up warm and see how i am and that i may be a one off or its the starting of a cold!! xx

My sugar levels were 20-33+ before the op for about 5 years! After the op they were around 6 rising to just under 10 a few days later, they have now drilled to norm, and the minute I got home from my stay in hospital, I burst into tears and could not stop, just look in my diary, although I feel it must be harder when your living on your own, I had my family around me, which was a big help, is there no one on here that lives in the same town that could perhaps visit?
