Hi, I really hope that you feel more upbeat soon, I guess having the surgery and losing weight is a huge adjustment for all of us. Perhaps it's you subconciously worrying about the change it's making and will make in the future to life as you know it?
That would be how I would explain it for me. I hope that you will start posting again on here as it's really good therapy and we are all on your side xxxx lots of love and please don't worry x

:hug99:Sewingbelle - I really hope your depression sorts itself out. Coming on here was a very positive step. Take care, Mxx

its not been that long since your op and maybe its a catch up of the emotions from then and before. for me it was like a roller coaster. Its a life changing event so dont be hard on yourself. often its a build up of emotions before they come out. hope you feel better soon when your meds begin to work and your back to your old self (albeit a slimmer one) real soon.

Hi Sewing belle, there is such a build up of emotions before having the op and so many things to sort out as well as the feelings about the op itself - it sounds as if these have come crashing down and maybe your old way of coping (comfort eating) has now been taken away from you and is a loss to you of sorts.

I expect you know that Anti-depressants can take a couple of weeks (sometimes longer) to kick in during which time it can be worse as the illness is effectively not being treated until levels of chemicals build up to make them effective.

I think it is important not to be hard on yourself over the next few days - afterall, if you had the flu, you will have taken to your bed. Just because the illness is in the brain doesn't make it any less an illness - although it is much harder for yourself and others to understand there is a lot of pressure to "Snap out of it" which of course cannot be done and is frustrating to the sufferer and those around them. You wouldn't be able to "snap out" of having a broken limb so you really need to be knid to yourself - maybe take yourself to bed after doing a small amount of chores, try and do things that are not too much of a burden little and often.

I'm so sorry you are not feeling well, but, difficult as it may seem at the moment it is true that "this too will pass".

(((HUGS))) I was warned about this as they said it can be very normal post op. I hope the tablets kick in soon for you and know we are here for you.

Hi Sewingbelle

I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling so down right now...It's awful when you have everything to be happy about but can't lift that dark cloud that hovers over head....but clouds never stay around for long...they burst and then they go away...same as your depression will go away.

The thing is, you have addressed it by seeing the doc, getting the medicine that will bring back the balance that your body can't do on it's own right now...and also you came here to Mini's where there are always people who can empathise with your dilemma...

I hope you start to feel better...you will soon I'm sure.

Always here.

(((hugs)))

Just wanted to say I'm sorry your feeling down, and I really hope you start to feel better soon, I used to suffer from deppression and I know how dark and lonely it can be. I know in the early days of my Bypass i was Up & Down everyday. But I am sure you will start to feel better very soon. I took deppression Tabs for years and years and about 4 months Post Op came off them and now I'm ok.
If you need to talk you can PM me anytime i will be here for you. Sending BIG Cyber HUGS to YOu.x
