I'm having my first fill on Monday I'm a bit scared it will hurt ?also how much do they usually put in first time .

It shouldn't hurt, its just like having an injection.

How much they put in varies, it depends what size band you have, surgeons preference or what day of the week it is (joking lol).

You will be fine x

I have a ten ml band in and I've got a card saying got 1 ml in

fills dont hurt they are just a little uncomfortable at worst, i had 1ml on my first ever fill and a bigger fill on my second one . my fills were done by laying down my port site palpated till they found it if it is needed they get you to lift your feet slighty as it pushes the muscles up making finding port easier, once found fine needle popped in fill done then in my clinic you sat up with needle in situ and asked to drink befor needle removed. im sure diff clinics have slight variations on this tho

Like Mazza says ... Everyone varies. I was taken to 7mils in my 14 mil band on my first fill (up from the 1.5 mils which were in the band from the op). It was done under X-ray so the surgeon could view the effect immediately. Just a teeny prick feeling with no pain really. Over and done before I knew it. Good luck

I have an 11 ml band.When I went for my first fill at the end of April they wanted to put 5 mls in but as I am due to go on holiday with friends in two weeks time who know nothing about my WLS I asked for slightly less as I didn't want any problems with possible over restriction so we agreed on 3. When the fill was done I can honestly say that I didn't know she had done it, the needle used is very fine and it will not hurt you. Although I have no restriction yet I am sticking to small portions of good food and have continued to lose at a steady rate.I am in no hurry to feel restriction until I stop losing but I will have a fill to the 5 ml when I return from holiday.

iv never had an xray fill iv heard others mention them tho

it really can vary, I had no fill at time of surgery but went to 5mls at first fill. I've now had 4. While 3 haven't hurt one was really painful and took 6+ attempts with a needle to get it into the port.

My first fill was under x-ray I had mls put in.
The only thing is the white chalky stuff they make you drink is disgusting
I was retching at the thought of it.
I just tried not to think about it and the retching went away.
Felt no restriction till I was up to 9mls.
I must have a fat food pipe lol xxx

No not at min but bk on fluids for two days and then mushy to let it settle .
