Hi all, well had my op yesterday and it went very well, so the day before I had a pre op and it showed up a slight urine infection they told me as this point that the op may not go ahead and it would be the surgeons decision, we were booked into the hotel next door to the hospital for that night so it was a really long night,
Got to the ward at 7:30am at this point my hubby had to leave as they are not allowed in the surgical day until, no sooner had I arrived that I was told I was first on the list for the day which I was happy about and no mention of urine infection, the nurse then carried out all her checks and asked to to change into a gown so I was ready for the marking, The anaesthetist then arrived and done all her checks she had this awesome outfit on and I remember thinking once I've had this op I could wear something like that lol. Mr Addison then came and marked me up with a marker (your right crackers this bit is nuts).
This was the first time I had met Mr Addison and he was really lovely and put me at ease and explained everything that was going to happen it was then go time I was walked round to theatre and hooked up to all the monitors and had the needle put in the back of my hand so I could receive my cocktail, I was then wheeled into the operating room this was weird being awake in here I've never been in here awake before always sleeping before hand watching them count scalpels was very weird lol.
When I woke up I just remember lifting the covers to look omg what a difference I couldn't believe it, the theatre staff kept laughing because I kept lifting the covers lol.
I was then brought down to my room and I got to speak to my husband who came to my room straight away with my mum I then of course pulled the covers to show them as well, Mr Addison then popped down to see me and told me to took 5 1/2 lb of skin away which I was delighted about and advised that he didn't need to use drains and that he would be back to see me shortly which he did then he was back again before he left for the evening.
I had really low blood pressure since coming back from theatre and got out of bed to go to the toilet and had a seat in the chair, the girls came in to do my blood pressure & pulse and I ended up taking a hot flush and felt really sick, that's the last I really remember because I fainted thank god I was in the chair with the girls, when I woke up I had 6 nurses round me shouting my name, so I'm not allowed out bed for a pee without the nurse.
Apart from this I feel remarkably ok in a little pain but not as I imagined really I took a few photos when I got to my room after the op so I will pop them up and give you all an update in a few days.
