Gastroscopy Anyone

I'm due to have a Gastroscopy on the June 15th. I was told to stop Lansoprazole (same as Omeprazole) at least 14 day before proceedure.

Its been 2 days and when I take my other tablet or eat I feel discomfort and they take ages to go down. Just drinking some water to take my tablet I feel bloated and sick as if I'll throw up. Has anyone else experienced this?

I felt the same way before my last gastroscopy. I spoke with the doctors about it but they basically said I had to deal with it. I did throw up numerous times while waiting for the test to be done.

Hi, my apologies for being completely thick but what is a gastroscopy. janey:rolleyes:

Janey hope this helps :
Gastroscopy is an examination of the inside of the gullet, stomach and duodenum. It is performed by using a thin, flexible fibre-optic instrument that is passed through the mouth and allows the doctor to see whether there is any damage to the lining of the oesophagus (gullet) or stomach, and whether there are any ulcers in the stomach or duodenum.
Its also known as a Endoscopy.

As for your comment about being thick,no your not if you dont know you just ask.

xx

Thanks Janey panic over it just worries me to death having one of those. When I had gallstones they wanted to do one luckily they changed their minds.

Does everybody having a gastric bypass have to have an endoscopy

Hi Sharron,

Don't know if everyone needs Gastroscopy/Endoscopy before Bypass.

I was reffered by my GP because some of the meds I'm on irritate the stomach. I've been having Heartburn, indigestion and reflux.

WLS consultant is aware that I am having it done.
