Morning again - can anyone who had keyhole, with drain advise me if they were still in pain at this point. If i go for a walk for eg i really pay for it later - i hurt all over and have like cramp - am i just so unfit?!! lol

Sorry to hear you are in pain, I am a bander, so cannot help but I am sure some nice folks will come along and reassure you that this is normal...hope you feel a little better soon:)

Sorry I can't help with the drain bit, but you are still very early days yet and should be taking it easy. I had gastric bypass and took me about 8 weeks to feel normal again, I remember up untill then I was very tired and if say I went out shopping one day just for even an hour I would be shattered the next day. Its a major Operation and its quite normal to feel tired very quickly, Just take it easy I am sure you will be fine. ((Hugs)) x

Hi, I had my bypass 29th October. I did not have a drain though. After 3 weeks I wasn't in much pain but remember that everyone is different. Even though we had the same surgery, we heal at different rates. Additionally, if you were very active pre-surgery you should have a better bounce back rate. I napped everyday for weeks! I was very inactive pre-surgey so the fatigue post-op was stronger. I have read that a drain can cause additional discomfort so it may be the culprit. When do you get the drain out? As for the pain, can it be managed with paracetamol? If so, you are completely normal and you will soon feel better. If not, you can speak to your surgical team and get their advice on pain management. As long as the pain/discomfort is not intense or sharp, you shouldn't worry. As always, a quick call to your bariatric team can ease your worry so give them a call if you are concerned.

HTH,
Nic;)

Can't offer any advice hun, but wanted to say I hope you are feeling better soon xx

Hi chick sorry to hear your feeling pain..cant give any advice but did not want to read and run...hope you get it sorted soon..xx

Big hugs babe...I think its baby steps time as like others have said its a big surgery you have had...small steps and before you know it will be giant leaps xx

HI not had surgery yet but did have drain in after gall bladder op and found that once they took that out I was alot better. When you do go to have it removed make sure you take some pain-killers before you get there and have some-one to drive you home, I didn't and paid for it later. Only took a day or two before started to feel hugely better.

good luck

Ali
