Hiya everyone, I've had a phone call today from Anna, Mr Khans secretary (nearly pooed me pants thought they were canceling). About going in on the 19th of Jan to meet him & his team and sign my consent form. It sounded like a group thing, so has anyone else had a call to go?

no cant help you there, could it be to go through the pre op diet aswell and ask if you have any last minute questions?

hey allie its getting exciting now and this means your op is getting ever nearer !!

I was wondering if your a private patient or NHS? because my op. is on the 17th and I haven't even met him yet, I'm NHS.
Anyway it's got to be a good thing, to meet him and ask all your questions.
Good luck!!

Crafty that seems weird. I was told that I had to meet w/the surgeon before my op (my bypass in Oct was NHS). If I were you I would ring the hospital just to make sure, perhaps they have sent an appointment out you that you haven't received or something. It can't hurt to make sure. Also, if you haven't seen the surgeon how did your type of surgery get determined? Just curious.

I'm an NHS patient of Mr. Amir Khan.

My procedure was determined at the initial appointment with the bariatric specialist nurse, Ana. The team, including the surgeon meet on a monthly basis to discuss the cases, then Mr. Khan sends a letter to the referring GP to inform him of his recommendations.

Mr. Khan confirmed that he would perform the suggested procedure, pending securing of funds.

Hi, the type of surgery was decided by Dr Hartland on my first visit, I've also been through all the tests and signed a load of paperwork and had a chat to the anaesthetist Mt Youseff.
However I give them a ring on Monday, thank's all.

The procedure I am having was also decided at my first appointment. Initially with Ana, the bariatric specialist nurse, then confirmed by Dr. Hartland afterwards.

Am now awaiting confirmation of funding (am having a bit of a runaround, but that's a different story) and I have to see the psyche on 27th March (though have been told this can sometimes happen post-op!). Muh. :(
