well i had pasta in tomato and herb sauce last night.. the one you make from a packet... and i just chewed loads as normal and all was good... and the sauce wasnt that runny.. so you will be ok... just chew xx

can you please ask her for the reciepe... im rubbish when it comes to cooking.. and i so want to make a cheese sauce to do cauliflower cheese lol... same sauce x

Ingredients

  • 500g fresh cauliflower
  • 2 leeks, chopped
  • 2 onions, cut into quarters
  • 1 vegetable stock cube
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 100g Rosemary Conley low-fat Mature Cheese, grated
  • 100g fresh breadcrumbs
  • 600ml milk
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives
  • 1-2 tsps stock powder
  • freshly ground black pepper
Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C, 400F, Gas Mark 6.
  2. Cut the cauliflower into florets and cook in a shallow pan of water with the leeks, onions and stock cube. Drain well and pour into an ovenproof dish.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the milk to near boiling, then stir in the stock powder. Mix the cornflour with a little extra cold water, then whisk the cornflour into the hot milk along with the mustard and half the cheese.
  4. Simmer until the sauce has thickened, then pour the sauce over the vegetables.
  5. Mix the remaining cheese with the breadcrumbs and chives, then season with black pepper and sprinkle over the vegetables and sauce.
  6. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes until brown and toasted on top.
  7. Serve with a tomato salad and green leaves.

that's not the saturated fat though Rayne xx i went onto her sight and there's loads of recipes and she does breakdown for all of them :) and you don't need to use her cheese tesco do a low fat one too x
 
oh ok... thanks hun... i always look at the overall fat content though.... at the moment no more than 5g of fat per 100g and no more than 5g sugar per 100g.. i was told i can go higher when im maintaining. i have emailed my dietician though and asked if i can buy stuff which is below 5g sugar and fat per serving.... but ive been waiting since wednesday for a reply... they are in the process off moving hospitals at the moment so its hard to get hold of them. x
 
i'm sure below will be fine honey xx i'm going to do some investigations on this coz i love cauliflower cheese too xx so i'll keep you informed :)

Enjoy a lighter cauliflower and cheese by using nonfat milk and reduced-fat cheese. Add spinach for an extra nutritional boost.
Cook Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium head cauliflower cut into florets
  • 3 cups baby spinach
  • 1 cup nonfat milk
  • 1 tbsp cornflour dissolved in 1/4 cup nonfat milk
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat cheese
Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Steam or simmer cauliflower florets on stove top for 4-5 minutes until just tender, adding spinach for final minute. Place cauliflower and spinach in 1 1/2 pint to 2 pint baking dish.
Heat milk on medium heat in a small saucepan until bubbles appear around the edge. Add cornflour mixture and stir until thickened. Add cheese and stir until melted.
Pour cheese sauce over cauliflower. Bake for 20 minutes.

right Rayne i've been on a bit of a mission today :) sainsbury's cheddar cheese sauce mix which you add milk to it says on packet semi skimmed but use skimmed and it will be even less fat :) here goes per serving 76ml..cals 74... protein 4.6..carbs 8.3 which sugars 4.1..fat 2.3..saturates 1.5... salt 0.72 .. the packet makes per 100 ml 97 cal..protein 6.1..carbs 10.9 sugars 5.4...fat 3.0 saturated 2.0...salt 0.95 ...so i've bought some as they seem ok to me 4 packets £1 :):) just make it as instructed and enjoy xxx
 
Thanks hun... i will look in there... i wont be having the whole packet lol..so it should be ok... im still waiting on a reply from the dietician regrding the grams per serving lol x
 
no that's what i thought but if you told her the amounts etc it seems ok per 100 ml, if she says not let me know coz i'm dying to try some and having roast beef for sunday dinner thought i might do some with that :)
 
it should be ok.. i emailed he dietician on wednesday as i know she is around on thursdays... still no reply so i prob wont get a reply till next thursday :-(
 
oh well i'll definitely be having it before then x i can feel guilty when you tell me it's a no no :)

no the paper gets in my teeth :) it's between 3 of us and the measuremenets are for 300ml so a portion should be fine :)
