having a hard time with my diet :o(

Thanks Kevin... much appreciated... Andrea has just completed the milk pre op diet... I didn't do it... I was on the low fat pre op diet due to diabetes, so I can't give you the details.

Thank you again Kevin for being there for Angelicheart as she prepares for her operation in 13 days.

Love and hugs xxx

I am still pre-op, so can only imagine how you are feeling. If you read through some of the diaries it's plain to see that everyone has had the same fears at some time or other, and they all came out the other side.

Being fearful is natural, just draw strength from your faith and your many friends here on the forum.

Hi Kevin, how you doing?
The thing is with the milk and yogurt diet is that every ones team is different and all the diets will be different.

The milk diet i was on consisted of 3 pints of ss skimmed or skimmed milk and 2 low fat yogurts a day plus unlimited tea and coffee with the milk taken from your allowance.
Unlimited water and sugar free cordial and thats it, nothing else.

It was horrendous for me personally and i was in bed for 2 day going through a sort of cold turkey type phase.

When i got to day 5 i started picking up and by day 7 i was leaving 1 yogurt and 1 pint of milk as i just didnt want it...amazing eh haha.

It was tuff im not going to lie but the thought of waking up and my operation not been carried out kept me going.

Hope this helps you lovey and Good Luck. xxx

JULIE is so right the pre op is the hardest part of the process but hang in there....if you are fed up with sweet taste you could always have a hot cup of marigold swiss vegetable boullion its savoury but very low cal and helps to keep your fluid intake up have your 5 slimfasts if you have the powder you can now and then make a little muffin with one portion mix with little water in a cup and then into the microwave for a couple of minutes try one minute at a time as been awhile since i tried it.. good luck and hang in there!!

Hi i started Slimfast on monday its not pre op just the normal 2 shakes, im having a small salad bowl and a meal still!! I have found it surprising OK upto now i only have the chocolate one for now until i go to shops saturday.

Maybe just try to keep busy my kids have been out all day and i have found myself tempted by the cupboard so i cleaned lol i notice i always do this when im in on my own my 1 and 2yr old keep me busy usually. I have a very large apetite lol but i have a coffee with shake and it keeps me fuller for longer xx

You guys are amazing and supportive - something I hoped I'd find. I live on the north shore of Lake Superior and there just aren't people around me who've had gbp done so I was hoping I'd find something like this board. My surgery is in two weeks (on 3/10/11) and I'm scared to death. I am traveling to Belgium to have it done. Prep diet is *Hard*. I bought a lot of protein drinks but I am feeling very hungry. Tonight I caved and ate a cup of pasta for dinner. Sigh...

Good to see you North Shore...

It's the hardest bit I found, the pre op diet and wanting 'everything' pre op....

Every bit of help for your liver shrinkage helps your surgeon and will help you too.

Keep going precious, we are here for you xxx

Hi Northshore, the pre-op is really difficult but so worthwhile. Do the best you can and it will get easier as the days pass....good luck for your upcoming surgery :D XX

Thank you, Dotty & Bev!

It's really nice to not only have some sort of support mechanism, but also to make some nice new friends who know what it's like!

I keep telling myself that just a couple of months from now I will be thinner but more importantly have more energy and feel healthier than I currently do. I am excited about flying out next week (not so much about flying coach!). Right now I'm not sure which WLS I'm having... Gastric sleeve is my preference because of the better absorption and shorter surgery but I suspect the 45 BMI I'm at might exclude that...

Anyway thanks for the awesome support!!

Jim

I had a check up with my primary today and I was *SHOCKED* to learn I'd lost 16lbs since my last visit. Yay! I think my bariatric surgeon will be pleased!!!
