How long does it take from referral to surgery in the west London area?

Louisa,

It all depends on where in West London you are. Some places have longer waits than others depending on where your local surgical centre is.

I live on the London/Surrey border and it's taken me 2 years so far and I've another 4+ weeks until my surgery, add to that that round here you have to have funding before you are referred to a surgeon which can increase the wait by a good few months.

Wait for St Georges (Tooting) is around 2 years and Ashford & St Peters is about 18-26 months! Other hospitals in the area are Charing Cross, St Thomas's, Whittington and no idea what the wait time is.

Hi all..i am 4 days post op. Just yestetday i started feeling nauseous off and on. Is this normal? I have not vomitted...just nauseous and dry heave...passes within half hr. Thought maybe the pain meds was the cause but not sure.

It may be pain meds. I had to come off them in hospital as they were making me feel nauseous. Just on occasional panadol and pain seems fine. May be worth seeing if nausea improves without them. Good luck. I am on day five today x

Thanks..will try to not use them and see how it goes. They had me taking roxicet. I will call the surgeon if that doesn't help.

Whereabouts in the country are you Joanie?

Also, do you have any co-morbidities that have affected the time your journey's taken? The lady having surgery the same day as me was only referred in June this year and is having surgery in December, I've been on the go for 2 years now so, sometimes, it makes no sense!

Joanie,

Just seen another post that you're in the states, your waiting times are notoriously shorter than ours in the UK!

Good luck with the appointment on December 6th,

Tatiana

i am in pennsylvania. I dont have any comorbidies. Waiting to see what the sleep apnea test on the 1st of dec says.

Mine took 3 months from my first appt with the surgeon..but i have wanted and researched the surgery for more than ten yrs. :)
