felt better in morning but had needed nurse to help me change and get up and everything. get the occasioanl shpulder pain but i can bearly stand...have to double over...cant stand straight and im really sore :( its just the one site but its so tight it hurts to breathe at times.

seriously im glad i got it done but did everyone have to endure so much pain and for how long. HW said that ppl were back at work 2-3days later????? im sorry but thats not gonna happen with me. i feel so horrible

Sorry you're in so much pain magic! It is my understanding that the pain levels people experience can greatly vary from person to person. I haven't had a band, and had keyhole surgery, so can't really compare. Have you been discharged yet? Is that all the pain meds they've given you?

I was on a permanent paracetamol drip for the entire 2 days in hospital (2 nights), and was given tramadol on top of that every 4 hours. The hospital should try to keep your pain under control, in my view.

The wind pain can be horrible too, but that should ease after a few days.

Ask your nursing staff for advice if it's really bad.

Hugs. xx

yes im at home now....dunno how u bypassers do it.... thats a lot bigger op :)

wind is bearable...the site hurts so so much :(

Did they send you home with decent pain killers? Like Cocodamol or Tramadol?? I thought that was pretty standard.

Hugs... feel better soon!

i asked for soluble paracetamol and was given voltarol as well.

cant lay down now as both shoulders hurt soooooooooooo much. im surprised im in so much pain..everyone seems to have done so muc better

Awww magic I have no pearls of wisdom ad I havnt experianced it, I just wanted to send you lots of love and speedy healing thoughts! .....
I'm sorry to hear your in so much pain a d I really hope it eases for you xxxxx

magic, i felt horrible for about 4 days, including what have i done. The lady i was in hospital with also felt the same, but we have now turned a corner and you WILL feel better.

Aaw Magic - Sorry to hear your suffering hun x

And am sorry to state the inevitable....but its par for the course.

I felt really bad for the first day or 2, I did`nt even bother to log on here, just kept regularly taking painkillers and hoped it would go away. The area where my port is was the worst, it took nearly a week to heal up properly, and for me to feel that it was getting better.

Don`t forget your body isn`t used to being cut into and having a foreign body inserted, it will take time to heal and adjust inside and out. A lot of people recover much more quickly than others, afraid you and me were the ones who it was tougher for x

Try not to be down, you may feel a lot better in a day or two. As you gradually move about your body will get slowly more mobile and it will all get easier.

Sending you lots of (((hugs)))

Love Kat xx

thanks all!

thought i was weirdo that was struggling the most. got heat patches on shoulders which is helping. defo cant walk around to ease the wind pain....too much agony in stomach.

feeling worse and worse but hoping to turn that coner in 2-4 days. only been 25hours since i came out of surgery! xxx

Oh MB! Im so sorry to hear you are in pain.
Keep taking the pain killers every couple of hours.

Make sure keep sipping tiny little sips of water to keep yourself hydrated.

At least its done now, a few more days and you will be fine.

So sorry to hear you're having such a tough time - hope you feel better soon. Stay positive xxx

Awh magic, I'm sorry so you feel so rotten. Are you taking Arnica? If not, it helps with bruising.
Hopefully you will feel a bit better tomorrow. I felt a bit rubbish for about 4 days.
You will soon feel better, honest.
Sending my love to you

Magic

This is your journey, dont compare yourself to others - if it hurts then keep taking the pain killers. It does get better I promise x

thanks all. for some reason i thought ppl bounced back a-ok after. stomach KILLS ..feel sicky, both shulders are in agony :( i wana cry but got heat on shoulders and painkiller-ing it up

thanks for all the support guys...it really helps :)

I used hot water bottles. Don't have them too hot and try to rock yourself like you would a baby, it dissipates the trapped wind. It isn't wind that is trapped in your tummy, it is wind that they blow you up with so they have room to move. It is extremely painful and you are not being soft, It hurts like billyo and you are right to feel fed up about it.
Remember to take painkillers as a preventative not as a cure for the pain. Don't let the pain get too bad before you take them, try to take them before it comes back if you know what I mean.
Something else that I remembered that helped me was to place a towel or a small sheet or throw or something over my stomach and tighten it a little so that it in effect keeps everything in place inside. Much like a gentle pair of control pants would but obviously not tightly. If you lie on your side you see, you are putting strain on the op inside you and stretching the band and any stitches. Try it with a towel, you will see what I mean when you get it into a comfy position.
I do hope you feel a little more comfortable soon.
Take care and try to rest.

thanks. had more paracetamol and voltarol as was starting to get more uncomfy. had activia yoghurt (no bits) and thats got me wanting to pass wind..TMI know but only managed to pass wind once, not managed to burp yet.

yes on my side i feel more sore, u r correct. im a side sleeper though but will prb sleep on sofa today kinda upright as when i lay down the shoulder pain (both shoulders) in intense when i breathe.

gonna be a tough road. sent hubby to get some warm heat patches for the shoulders and have been placing a pillow gently on tummy over wound .

thanks for tips.... wish i could fast forward to day 10!
