Come on girl you can do this, i know right now you feel all hope is loss but give yourself a few days, compose yourself and FIGHT

good luck keep us posted because what ever you do may help someone else in the same place as you x

I think it's all down to the new rules that came into effect from April 2014. It's been a total cock up as far as I'm concerned and it's not right playing with peoples emotions!
Hopefully you GP will be able to give you more answers on Monday!
xx

Hi
Blondie do you know the details of the change of rules ?

CaniSani, I have cheered up a little, still feel like poo but I will know more Monday

Hi billie i dont know about the nhs process so cant help much but i hope you get it sorted.
In relation to getting in to debt though, have a sit down and work out how much you spend on food, snacks, takeaways, meals out, etc, when i work mine out i spend almost £100 per month on this. That goes along way to paying privately and once you have surgery you will save this money.
You sound to be in a difficult position really with disappointment with the nhs and worries over funding it yourself. Just remember you only live once so dont spend years being unhappy and waiting for help.
Good luck with it all, dont let it get you down...

I'm sure if the NHS won't do it, there will be a way you will be able to go privately.

A friend told me that you can pay instalments

Hi Billie, I'm not sure of a timescale, but when I was having my endoscopy the other week (coincidently by the bariatric surgeon) he told me that patients with a BMI of under 50 now had to do a weight management programme before referral- no timescale mentioned though. As mine was over 50 I could be referred straight to the hospital, but again had to be under them for a minimum of 6 moths.
Initially when I was first referred (in April/May) I got told my local hospital was accepting referrals at the moment, but no one knew why or how long until they would- this was all down to the change of rules!
Fortunately for me once the surgeon found out my BMI was over 50 he went out of his way to accept the referral, so have faith there are a lot of good, kind people out there wanting to help!

Unfortunately for me there's no way I could go private as I won't get accepted on finance to pay instalments as when I was younger I messed about with credit cards so have a bad credit rating.
Which is annoying as I could afford it :(

I'm just going to wait till Monday appt with doc and see where we will go from here.

when I got accepted for wls i had done the tier 3 for 6 months.

If it works the same as here in Portsmouth, to get a nhs referral to the bariatric team you have to have done the tier 3 programme, I ad a gap between the programme and the referral as I had to see the bariatric physician who agreed that I was suitable for surgery and told my gp to send the referral, I saw her at the beginning of april, then saw the bariatric team at the the end of May and am having surgery on the 7th October.

When you see your doctoe you could always ask to be referred to the bariatric physician then he/she may be able to help you get nhs funding good luck in your journey

Hi guys
Quick update
So ive been to the doctors,
And its NOT a NO !!!!!!!!

He gave me some paperwork and said I have to do the following
''Patient has previously been referred to the specialist multidisciplinary obesity service provider (Tier III weight management)
''Patient must have completed 80 percent of the sessional contact time with the specialist multidisciplinary service during the 12 month intervention''

Only problem is my doctor is clueless on who exactly this is.. I'm seeing a dietitian at a health centre.. Does this count ?? Also who else is on the MDT ???

Feeling much much better.. Don't care if it takes 12 months xxx

Oh magic well at least youre still on your way! I cant help with the tier 3 stuff im afraid. Good luck

Yipeeeee

Just spoke to lady at the docs, and shes spoken to the ccg and they have emailed her the paperwork to get me on the teir 3 !!

This is good progress

Does anyone know how long the wait is from them receiving the paperwork to getting appointments etc..

Thanks

xxx
