Hello everyone. I don't want this to appear as a moaning message but suppose it is. As I put before I have been 4 a consultation and decided on gastric sleeve. This won't be till prob April as I can take the 2 week school holiday 2 recover also raising money.the only prob is I am trying 2 cut down on things and find I am eating loads more. sugar being my worst. every day I wake up thinking I will have my cup of tea without sugar but never do. Then it starts me thinking should I even be having the sleeve if I can't cut back? Dont think it helped that my consultant told me not 2 loose weight between now and op. I have also been thinking should I go 4 the bypass so I physically can't have sugar? Is there a major difference? Sorry to go on but there is no one else I can really talk to about it. X X

I'm sure someone with more advise will be along shortly, but I for one can still eat and drink sweet things, don't get me wrong I always have no added sugar things but sometimes they are not available or if I'm out and have a coffee and there are no sweeteners I put sugar in and have no problems with having it

I havnt had any sugar since surgery...Im too scared of dumping! It was one of the things that made me choose the bypass over any other option and the surgeon agreed it would be the best option for me. I would speak to your provider about how you feel and see what they reccommend for you. If you have major concerns over sugary foos the bypass might be a better option for you though :D Good Luck in making your decision XX

Hi Dani, i had my sleeve in November, and since then i have been using canderel sweetner with coffee ans tea and my cereals.I have found since my operation that i have just started eating healthily i did have a severe sweet tooth but since my op i have just eaten healthily i have lost five and half stone in 2 months and food is no longer a priority in my life. Its the best thing i have ever done i have a lot more energy these days and have been walking about 2 miles every day which is something i could only dream about before my operation.Hang in there Dani it will soon come around and you can start living a happy and healthy life. All the best. Jason.

All the very best Dani... I've not had sugar in any of my drinks since I was 16 and now can't take sweet drinks at all... I still developed diabetes post pancreatitis.

If I were you, whilst you are waiting, it's a great opporunity for you to use this time to start feeling better about yourself and doing all you can to get ahead prior to your surgery... it's not easy but I keep saying to myself every bit of improvement helps yourself and your surgeon, plus recovery...

For sure... I'd be trying to use sweeteners at this juncture if I were in your position and trying to reduce my sugar and fat intake.

All the very best of everything is wished for you and please keep in touch.

Love and hugs xxx

Thanks bev I am proud to say I have gone all day without sugar in my tea and its getting easier. Thanks again X

You really wont miss the sugar in tea after a while in fact you will hate it and wonder how you ever drank so much.

Hey Dani,

do you think its just nerves? Im hoping that when i have this op, it will change my relationship with food forever, as it has done for lots of people here. If i were you id try not to put any weight on/or loose any and just maintain it. If that means having a sugar in your tea until April, then why not x
