Hi all.

Hello, I'm new to this section, so please bear with the stupid newbie questions.
I'm three weeks post op. Haven't really been following any kind of post op diet, just been feeling my way.
Unfortunately, I'm up a pound this week after losing 12 pounds the week of the op and seven the next week. Do I need to be panicking?
Also I seem to be able to eat varying amounts of food which is a tad freaky too. Again should I be panicking?
And the trapped wind and dumping are truly amazing sensations that I'd be keen to avoid in future. :-D
Many thanks.

It's really worrying to hear you have no guidance on post op eating as it's sooooo important. Did your provider give you any info?

There are lots of posts you can search on here or even google. Then please please follow them as you don't want to have put yourself through this (not to mention the £) to then cause yourself issues.

I wish you all the best :)

My provider gave me a booklet, but I'm really really bad at taking instruction. That's why I ended up at thirty stone in the first place. ;-)

It might be time to ask yourself a serious question on why would you put yourself through major surgery if you're not committed to following the post op diet? You might still end up back at 30st if you don't change the behaviour as it's really not a magic wand. Self sabotage behaviour can be tackled, you are more than capable of committing yourself to following the post op diet as you committed yourself to surgery. Dumping, is that from the kinds of foods you are eating? Is it happening regularly or just trial and error at this stage?

As for the regain it's normal to have some stalls, particularly at this point and is not a worry at all as long as it's not from self sabotage.

How about you post up a food diary. That way you can be supported through any pitfalls you face.

Don't mess up the new chance you've got. I take it you're unhappy with being 30st or wouldn't have gone through surgery. You do have the power to change old habits and now is the time to do that.

I do have to agree with SmallerMe, you need to stop being so sensitive. SmallerMe is telling you the truth. We are all friends here but we aren't going to mollycoddle you.

They're both right. This forum is a place to share your worries, your fears, your successes and achievements. You asked a question and each post has given you help and advice. It's easy to nod and smile at times but if it's not genuine then it serves no positive purpose. Your response was frankly disrespectful and immature.

I hope that you have had time to reflect and accept these messages in the context that they were intended and that you can maximise this opportunity that you've been given.
