I am very new to this type of site but after reading through so many of your posts I feel there is a wealth of support and advice that I hope I can be a part of! I am 8 day post op gastric band, sick of soup but feeling very positive about my journey ahead. Only fear is that after my first fill (26 march) I'll be frightened to eat as DO NOT fancy experiencing this 'PB' thing, sounds really scary! Also there seems to be such a difference in what some people can eat compared to others and some of the things that people say they can't have seems really random! Is it just trial and error and when people say they can't have things is it because they get stuck?? anyway hope to join in and share when I can! Thanks for having me!

I have had a band I'm almost 3 weeks post op and can eat just about anything except bread :) this site is so helpful I just about live on here lol
I have my first fill on the 8th or march and I have no idea what to expect!! :/

Hi ya, I'm a fellow bander.
I had my op on 30th October.... Could eat anything up til my fill mid January, even after the first fill I could eat anything. The second one really gave me restriction, meaning my portions were smaller and I did get things 'stuck' which causes restriction pain. I had my third fill last Saturday and the things that I have found I can't eat is bread, rice, chicken in breadcrums, pizza (tried 3 bites of my boyfriends last night and was sick), crispbread (one day I ate them fine, the next I was sick-same with scrambled egg) wraps, some cold meat...... I'm sure there will be more things to add. It's all trial and error so I'm on a big learning curve at the moment. I also find that I'm best off having a liquid breakfast because my band feels tighter in the morning...... BUT, I have lost 1st 4lbs in under 5 weeks so I'm not complaining! Lol xx

Hi Sophie you are doing so well so far, I hope I follow in your footsteps! I have a question if you don't mind!? So I will have my first fill on 26 March and I am planning a day out in York on 7 April. I do it with the girls every year we shop, pub, shop, pub.....all day! Do you think this will be too much for me and do you think I will be able to find something I can eat on a pub menu?? My friends are aware of my band but I am just terrified of getting food stuck in public :s xx

Welcome to the banders little group!!! Worse case scenario go for soup of the day!! Any chance of assessing the menu before you go to try and suss out your best option?! X

Hi Jo thanks for the welcome! I guess I could ask the girls to plan things out a bit more this time! We usually end up in a weatherspoons or similar! I just want to try and make this part of my life as soon as possible and not turn social events down as I've done that enough in the past as I've felt too big :(

Well you can get wetherspoons nutrional info online so why not suss it out in advance...then tell the girls thats where you need to end up!!! :) try and start as you mean to go on and even if you've little restriction by then try and brain train yourself to smaller portions...so whatever you have...only eat half or have a starter as your main!!! it is do-able with focus!!

Steady on the alcohol tho if it's one of those kind of trips :D x

Everyones different but I should think that you'll be alright for eating after your first fill.
I just went out for dinner with my dad and ordered jacket potato cheese and beans and asked for the cheese in a side dish so I could just put a small amount on as it's very high in fat. I just ate the insides of the potato (not the skin) and even after 3 fills and good restriction, that went down just fine... Along with a large glass of red wine... It's still important to live your life too, as long as you balance things out. I'm sure you'll be fine. Xx

Welcome to the forum

My first fill is on the 22nd march... I don't know what PB is either???

It's productive burp..google it!! Interesting reading :) this will happen every now and again if you push your band to the limit and as you learn how to handle it xx
