How are all the September Oppers doing?

I know there were a fair number of us, I think I must have been the last on 30th September!

I just wondered how you are all doing, what food-stage you are at, and how you are getting on with that....anything really :)

I'm a September bypasser!

I'm doing great (I think!). I'm chuffed with my weight loss so far.

I'm currently on mashed foods, anything sloppy really. I'm also having crackerbreads and ricecakes. Not sure if I should be but they seem to be going down well.

I've still not felt hungry and have to remind myself all the time that I MUST eat!

I'm not getting enough fluids in, so hard when you need to leave 30 minutes before and after food to drink. Every day I make an extra effort to drink more.

I had a little hiccup over the last week with vomiting and feeling very sick everytime I ate. This problem, fingers crossed, seems to have sorted it's self out.

How are you getting on?

I am coming up to 5 weeks out on Saturday and I'm doing good. Week 3 and 4 were hardwork - I struggled an awful lot then. Food getting stuck, indigestion, not wanting to eat at all. But I seem to be coming through that now.

My food range is broadening day by day. I can now eat fish pie, shepherds pie, chilli, pasta and sauce, crumpets, toasted fruit teacakes and even toast.

I too struggle to drink enough but I'm aware of it and getting better.

Well, I should of been 30/09 but ended up a day late 01/10 so offically im a Oct bypasser....

Im doing fine, cant wait to go on the baby food stage LOL

Im struggling with drinking enough too. Not helping the constipation thats still coming and going.

Im 3 weeks out and on sloppies, I move to soft food next week.

Im not doing too badly, my depression is starting to creep back in but physcially everything is healing as it should.

Ive now lost 30lbs in total so happy with how its working.

Hoping I start to feel restriction on the next stage.

Hey guys

I'm pretty much eating what I want now & am getting 2-2.5 litres of water in me each day but only b'coz I have a bottle or glass frimly fixed to my hand. I used to drink 5 litres before per day so this is miniscule for me!

I am finding since being on 'normal' foods that juggling when I'm full is tricky but its all part of the learning curve! x

Hey!

I'm doing alright thanks! :)

I'm on soft foods at the moment, its a nice change from the previous stages and can eat nicer things now ;)

I've been sick a couple of times but i think it was because i ate too quick, too much at a time, and not chewing enough. But I'm hoping i will learn soon as being sick isnt the best experience in the world.

I'm chuffed with what i have lost so far, lets just hope it carries on! :) xxxxxx

I was early Sept and am pretty much eating what I want now, in moderation, but am being very careful about amounts, chewing for ages etc. as if I eat too fast (old habits!) I really suffer for it.

Most of the time I eat a lot of high protein foods and drinks but I really miss cooking so made my first 'proper' meal at the weekend: baby new potatoes roasted in sweet caramalised onion chutney, mushrooms in white wine, cream and black pepper sauce and roasted red pepper and goats cheese flan. Sounds a lot but I only had a couple of spoons of each.

I am struggling to drink enough though but am trying to vary that with protein drinks, smothies etc. and carrying a bottle of water everywhere.

Hi - I am 21st Sept opper and am pretty much on normal food. Eat small meals though and even have managed the pub for lunch (had pate and melba toast with salad). Feeling really good - had a bit of trouble with smoked mackerel, and fish in general not brill, but everything else fine. Moved on to fairly normal food quite quickly as that was what I was told to do and it has been fine. Have lost nineteen pounds post op with 12lb previously on pre op diet.:D:D

Hi, my op was on the 26th sept and i'm feeling good now,i'm still on liquid for another 5 days so i'm really looking forward to soft foods. I have lost 28lbs so far and i'm now starting to feel the benifits.

I forgot I had posted this

You are all doing so well!! Glad to hear there aren't really any major problems, and we are mostly on the way to eating normal food now :)

I am only weighing monthly from now on, so last time was about 10 days ago and I had lost 27lbs in total, as per my ticker. Measuring monthly too, so that will be interesting - can already get a fist and some inside my bra above my boob  but I was a 38k pre-op so I am more than happy to lose some there!!! All my clothes are falling down and I have dropped about 1.5 sizes I think.

I am on mashed food and anything I can chew to death, actually had a mini roast lamb dinner last night with no ill effects, I can't puree anything without gagging, so I chew for england and its going well.

I am at that stage tho where I don't *feel* any slimmer and feel sure its not working.....my husband thinks I am crazy as he added up my calories over the weekend and it was about 500-700 per day, so I am hardly going to put weigh ON am I :D:D:D

The complete and utter exhaustion is getting to me a little, on Saturday night I slept for 16 hours then woke up wanting more sleep and totally spaced out and physically exhausted for about another 5 hours! Not like me at all. I so generally feel "wobbly" a lot of the time, not sure why really but am sure it will pass.

Dell - are you taking your iron tablets yet? Low iron could account for feeling so tired.

I was the same with pureed food - absolutely no way, nah! Yuck!

My op was on the 5th October, but wanted to be nosey and see how you guys are getting on. I can't wait to get to the pureed stage, but it sounds like I'll be having mashed/soft from what a few of you have said.

Keep up the good work and well done all of you.

love

Rebirthxx

Hi all - yes I was the same with pureed food tbh is it not just as easy to chew food well? The baby food type consistency of pureed food is not good!

Think I am going to be sensible now and stop weighing myself all the time - probably go to a two week weigh in after tomorrow (4 week post op). That way it is not too demoralising if I dont lose very much in a week! Weight loss as we all know is erratic and never consistent so a two week weigh may be better. I too am only on about 1000 calories max a day so I know weight loss will be maintained but I hate getting on the scales and thinking I have stalled!

I have felt tired this week but I think it is because I have a cough that is really wearing me out (and not doing a lot for my poor tum!) Have been given an inhaler (bronchial dilator) which is supposed to help and using nasal drops as I cant take cough mixture as it is too sugary. Going to add an iron tablet to my vitamin intake too. Thanks everyone for that idea!

I've had my bloods done to check everything today as I've had problems in the past storing iron. No way can I eat puree ugh no..... I have teeth :D

Hi All, I had bypass surgery on 24th September. I struggled with the puree stage. The consistency of pureed meat is disguisting. I am eating what I want now with lots of protein. had a ham salad sarnie for lunch. I have not had any problems with being sick, food getting stuck or anything like that. I struggle to know when I am full.
I fancied a chocolate hit so made some chocolate brownies today mmmmmmm they were lovely oh yea and sugar free lol.
I am not getting weighed as my scales are pants. I have gone from a size 24 clothes to a 20 so I know I am loosing. I have a review appt on 30th November so will see then what I have lost.
Everyone is doing really well xx

I was banded on the 28th September and am fine thanks. its great to see how everyone is getting on. I am one pound off a 2 stone loss, which I am thrilled with as I did not really expect to loose much before I had my fills. I feel really positive about the whole thing now. hated the puree phase and mostly stuck to liquids and cereal but its so nice to be able to have some prper food now. I had scambled egg for breckie this morning which was great. Still getting quite a bit of pain in my port area which I beleive is normal at this stage but it is preventing me from doing any excersise other than walking. I tried to go swimming but only managed a few lenghths before I had to give up. I am just hoping that things will continue to run so smoothly for me but you never know what the future holds do you.
