Quick question, I was wondering how long the actual surgery takes, on average to have a band fitted, how long will I be under?

thanks

hi i thought it was about 30 - 60 mins, but somebody else may be more accurate. Where are you having your surgery?

Yes I had mine a week ago and was very straightforward op, took just under 40 minutes. If the liver is slightly larger or other complications then could be longer x

Bex, thanks, hows things going?

I am in on 21st May, if you don't mind me asking, how where you when you came round, did it take long to recover?

I was in recovery room for just under an hour (left ward at 10:50, back on ward 12:30)

This time it took me all day to "fully" come round from the general- i was awake at 12:30 but not with it at all and very squiffy. but I've had so many big ops under general recently that I believe its just my body saying "enoughs enough!" :-/

My mouth was SO dry that it stopped me from sleeping overnight- I was up every half hour sipping water. It was only in the morning when the nurse changed that she told me milk is much better for this. Sure enough milk did sort me out so if this happens give that a go x

Cold milk - great tip!

I was told between 20 and 60 minutes depending on any complications once they begin

45 mins under for me, but was in recovery for several hours as I didn't wake up after anaesthetic for ages!
