I miss carbohydrates do you?

I miss having bread, have toast occasionally but try and have cereal instead, very rarely have a sandwich, like to keep carbs for potato, or pasta or rice or if i want a biscuit its classed as a carb on my sheet only allowed on my sheet 2-3 a day i think this is the hardest for me.:(

I used to be a big big carb eater pre op , and strangely enough I have never missed it post op.

It gets easier, 4 years on I eat small amounts of pasta, one toast in the morning and half a sandwich at a time. When I eat I still think nutrient 1st. Like does my body need meat/eggs/cheese rather than an empty carb that isn't going to generate much goodness. At the end of the day the space is limited may as well fill it with something good for me than something that's going to bloat me out!!

Yes i agree with you on that i have spent years having 1 carbohydrate with each meal its strange not having one with a meal, need to talk to my self and get focussed thank you for that need to think like that again, keep my eyes on the goal no empty calories. xx:sigh:

am 6 months out and very rarely have carbs now and dont miss them x

Yep i miss them too so i have a piece of brown toast now rather than white. When i think back to how much white bread i used to eat it makes me shudder.

thank you all for your responses, i know what i have to do just been part of my staple diet for so long thats where my dificulty lies. Thank you very much xxxx

no two days are the same to me ............i can stomach toast one day but not the next :(

Same here. I'm not too upset though as I ate far too many carbs pre-op and I'm so grateful that the op has helped me with that particular addiction.
Sometimes I feel I really want some pasta or bread, but the reality is I just don't - it's getting your head around realising you're not hungry, you're just in the mindset of your previous eating habits.
Bread pretty much hates me now anyway :D

I feel liberated lol

My fave diets pre op were always low carb. Now I have a reason where it is in my best interest to stick to low carbs. That makes me one happy lady lol xxx

Thx for egg face link. Liked it.
Was a complete carboholic before not missing them at mo but every now & then fancy a bit of toast. I'm only on purée at the moment due to my post op complications so avoiding it.
Struggling with purée too but back to hospital next week for further check ups. Stil not regretting op though.

I think, like Chrisa, while I won't miss the carbs, I will miss the 'complete meal' feeling as most of the meals I cook have a carb that I prefer to go with them. So I like the eggface substitutes.

This may sound daft but do people still eat cereal then, i know some of you say you haven't missed them at all (carbs that is). Even on my sheet from hospital it says post 6 months 2-3 portions of carbohydrates a day. My carbs are made up of possible slice of brown multi seeded bread, 1 spoon of potato, 1 wapotato waffle, cereal, pasta, rice. the main ones i have are cereal and potato. Do some of you not have carbs every day or not at all? think i'm having a wally day. Just trying to get my head in gear and analysing my diet got my appointment in may my 1st since my op have to be on top of the game. Thanks everyone. Confused.com. I'll shut up now have to get ready for work, somone please answer the questions so i can come home tonight and read, and think thats what i need to do, or thats where i'v been going wrong, the head needs to know. haha xx

Seems like you are doing what your team says :)

I hope someone a few months out like you can give you insight though.

I have seen on some fb group people eating sausage (and associated items) or Greek yoghurt for breakfast x

My team say not to cut out carbs completely as that can lead to feeling deprived. But to have it last and fill up first on protein. dunno if that helps.

That makes sense. It's just choosing the best carbs. Veg carbs and unrefined carbs (wholemeal bread, rice, pasta etc)

My diet sheet says I can have weetabix & porridge. Both I've tried for brekkie on my purée stage. Made it fairly loose with milk & ok so far.
My diet says it is a balance but the priority is always eat your protein first. I am finding this very difficult as not a meat/poultry lover. Tried very small bit of puréed fish but it came back to greet me. Gonna try a soft scrambled egg over next few days. Good luck.
