Im in agony!!! But thought it had settled!!!!!!!!!

Today ive had a day of laughter today which started at 8 am when i picked my son up from manchester after a works night out and he was telling me about his evening. we later then picked my Ex fosterchild immy up who is severly autistic with learning difficulties and went to see my sister at the hospital. we took her and him out for lunch and it was really nice being with 3 very important people in my life. Listening to the banter between my son and sister and also seeing immys reaction to being with us he smiled like a cheshire cat through the whole meal and even at 17 kept asking for hugs.
I had a fresh orange juice but i also had prawns in garlic for a stater and pate and salad as a main course. whilst driving home i got a familiar twinge in my kidney area so took some paracetomol and it seemed to pass.

Dropped everyone off and had a few hrs at home had tea of soup and sandwich and then Went to watch keith in panto tonight with my son.It was absolutly fab and so funny. During th einterval i had a coffee but whilst sat i had an achy feeling in my back.
After the show my son was meeting some friends in town and as keith had an after show party i decided toi go for a drink with my son and meet up with keith later.
Got in the pub ordered a freshorange juice and by the time i had drunk half of it i was in agony again. so much so i had a glass of water and i dont do plain water.
Ended up coming home and taking some paracetomol but after an hr i ended up taking a tramadol that has given me some relief for 3 hrs and although the pain isnt as bad as it was its still there.
The more i think about it the more it feels like it did when i had problems with my gall bladder before having it removed. so im beginning to think he may be right about the stone in my bile duct.
As much as i dont want it to be that as its going to mean surgery if it is the sooner its out the better.
in the meantime no OJ
Oh Carole I hope you get mended soon. I was worried I would have to forsake my Tramadol after the op, but thank heavens it's OK to take it. Fingers crossed for you.

You are certainly having a rough time at the moment Carole hope they sort it out soon for you.

Sam it definately sounds like gall stones to me, I thought I was having a heart attack the first time I had an attack. I was told to avoid anything fatty which you will be doing anyway, eggs and cucumber. Hope the sort it for you soon too.

Sam, were you told to take Ursodeoxycholic acid (UCDA) after your bypass? It seems common practice at Charing Cross. I asked how long I would need to take them and was told until it was necessary to have my gall bladder out. Hopefully that time doesn't arrive so I will probably stay on them for life. Does anyone else take these?

I hope your pain is resolved soon Carole.

Oooh John i have never heard of this before, i did ask surgeons reg when i saw him last June, and mentioned that i had seen Shaw Taylor removing them during all of the surgeries i had seen on Fat Doctor, but he said that it wasn't always necessary and that they would just keep an eye out incase i started having problems.

Well went for my scan to look for my coil today and it is definatly in the right place just the strings have wrapped themselves around it. so that rules that out thank goodness.

was having a good day up tp tea time and i had fish pie and am now paying for it. The dr has given me som plain codien today as im trying just to use paracetamol but if i need anything stronger i then cant take cocodamol. but at least this way i have something in between paracetomol and tramadol.
thanks for all yr kind messages
carole

So sorry to hear you're still suffering so much pain-what are they going to do/investigate next?

hope things getting sorted very soon for you x

no just tablet form but now on seperate paracetomol and codein. so if i can manage on paracetamol i can and just top up with the codein if needs be

Glad the coil is okay and not the cause, when will you go for the next test? Hope you are able to manage your meds better now with the new pills.

See you tomorrow!:)

just waiting for my mri scan to look for stones and gastroscope for ulsers.

Are you having the gastroscopy under sedation? I would strongly advise it if possible, although it will mean having someone to go with you as they won't allow it if you're alone... as I unfortunately found out!

Just a thought, but if the coil strings have disappeared into your uterus, how on earth will they remove it when it needs replacing??

luckly because im 46 it wont need replacing will be left in situ till after menapause. as for removing it not a clue.

ive had a gastroscopy before and didnt need sedation was able to just swollow the tube when asked using relaxation techniques, so hoping the same will happen but just in case i will go on the tram and leave the car at home that way if i do need sedating i can get someone to pick me up.
thanks carole

Ooh, thanks for this John. I'll do some research.

Hi ladies,
Just to keep youo informed, I had a phone call from the specialist nurse at CX today as a 3-month checkup and I asked about the Ursodeoxycholic acid. She said I would probably only need to take them up to 6 months post-op. You are both past that point so the chances of not getting GSs is probably good.

Yes I have been prescribed but am not taking them (eeek!)

they did make me feel nauseous and I stopped taking them a few weeks ago ........... will start them again now

You're not really a 'poor me' kind of person, are you?!

Oh good god no. Only got to look at my sister and the families that i work with to know that there is always some one worse off than myself and to be honest if being in discomfort for a few weeks knowing that there is going to be an end to it or at least with pain killers it eases turned me into a poor me type of person i hope someone would give me a swift kick.
