Hi Margaret,

3 Co-Codamol  at once isn't a good idea, they contain Paracetamol. I'm sure you know but you shouldn't take more than 8 in 24 hours.

I too suffer from arthritis and I have movelat to rub in (anti inflamatory) 600mg ibruprofen 1x3 a day again anti in and a pain killer and I also have the co drydamol

there are many options out there - have you considered having steroid injections

really hope you can get some relief from the pain soon

Hi Margaret - sorry to hear your arthritis is playing up at the moment - look after yourself and hope your GP can do something for you in the pain department.

Sending you hugs with fairy dust to help ease your pain x

Hi Pinky
Thank you for your comment . I do only take them twice a day morning and night . Thanks again .

Thanks for putting my mind at rest:).

Have you tried heat pads? some say they help.

Pain can be a difficult one. I suffer with my back, lupus and mirgains though they have impoved. The lupus and back pain are the hard ones to control. Co-codamol won't even touch the pain. I occasionlly take Oramph, but am so aware that it can be addictive.

Hiya Margaret,
Being in pain is something that I can totally understand about- I have a connective tissue disorder and get chronic pain 24/7, it totally sucks!!
You should ask your GP about seeing a pain consultant, I see a pain specialist locally and I have also been on a pain management course in Bath.
Maybe it might be a case that your pain meds need tweaking or something, I am sorry to hear that acupuncture did not work for you- don't give up though there are lots of options out there.
Sending you painfree hugz :grouphugg: x

margert sorry to hear you are in so much pain but taking 3 tabs at once really is too much for your liver to cope with at one time. have you tried taking ibuprofen in between or at the same time.

So sorry to hear you are in pain Marg. I really hope you feel better soon xxx

please ask them marge as my mam was sat rocking in so much pain and the gabapentin made such a difference. and the tramadol is morphine based.

where is your arthritis marge ? my mams is in her spine.

hi Margaret.. so sorry to hear you're in so mcuh pain but can fully sympathise with you as I have severe osteo in lower spine, both hips, both knees, both ankles and various other places.. would be easier saying where I havent got it.. lol :p

right.. when you go to gp, if you been on codydramol and they arent helping, it could be your body has built up an immunity to them.. unfortunatley for me - that happened several times - co-codamol, codydramol, tramadol hydrochloride, codeine phosphate, dihydracodeine to name a few.. My gp had got to his wits end - and as I had problems with stomach after an allergic reaction to kapake.. wonderfrul gp sat and explained last chance I had was patches as oral meds were too much of a risk (at that point anyway) for me..

I've now got Buprenorphine Transdermal patches. they go on my back, once a week they get changed and as it a constant flow into my blood stream - there isnt a 'break' where its wearing off and waiting for next dose to get into my system.. at the moment - am on 20mg and can only go up by another 5 if am lucky - then its off to horsepickle to see orthi surgeon/consultant for anything stronger - gp explained he not allowed to give me too high a dose..
If you have tried a lot of pain killers - it may be worth asking him about them, they are known as Butrans. He can start you off on 5mg for a month dependant on level of pain or go onto 10mg straight away.. when I first was given them the relief was unreal.. and they wont interfere with your op when it comes around either :D

As for temporary relief in meantime, I use Bells muscle rub gel, it stinks to high heaven but helps, have an electric UNDERBLANKET on the mattress and turn it on high to warm bed so can get comfortable then turn it down so a very lw heat overnight, helps ease any stiffness.. just a couple of suggestions.. let us know how you go wont you..
