I think we would all feel the same Sarah :/

what do you have in your band now ?

This was fill#4, taking me to 9.5ml in a 14ml band. At 8.5ml it took a couple of days to settle, but then I was back to hunger again. I can't say I feel hungry at the mo lol!

Fingers crossed for tomorrow...

Maybe try clear liquids for a day, then other liquids for two days, then mush, see if that helps?

I'd give your 'ole provider a call if it's still uncomfortable tomorrow, see what they say. Hopefully it'll settle.

Well I'm a bit calmer this morning! I managed to get cereal and yogurt down my neck yesterday, so it can't be THAT bad! I tried some luke-warm cordial this morning and struggled to drink half a mug, and I've yet to have a cup of tea, but I took a calpol fastmelt and that stayed down ok.
God I'm such a panicker... Last night was miserable but I'll see how it goes today.

Thankyou for talking me down folks, I love the support on here:)

Sigh.

Sip of tea, lovely, then burped it up again. Going to see the nurse this afternoon to see what she thinks and potentially have an aspiration before I get too dehydrated.

awww hun sounds awful. Hope you get it sorted and feel better soon x

awww man and im so sorry my stupid comment mde no sense last night i meant to say maybe have the tinyest bit taken out like .5ml or sumthing x x

If you're struggling to get fluids down then more than anything it is a sign that there is over restriction. The difficult thing is, if you have an episode which can cause swelling around the band and it causes ongoing difficulty which a day or two of liquids only doesn't help settle then the swelling increases, the band gets tighter and it becomes a vicious circle that only a defill can resolve.

When I had my over restriction during October, I left it too long, but had that hope it would settle on liquids and it didn't. It then got worse and worse and to the end I couldn't even swallow my own saliva.

If you do go for a defill, its also quite common that they will take you back further than what you were last time, to enable the swelling etc to comfortably go down and then to build back up. They took mine back to two previous fills to enable that to happen and then placed me onto milk and water only for a week and then bland puree/mash for another week. Spicy and acid based foods can make it worse, so in the meantime avoid those too.

But better to get it sorted out, over restriction is awful and can cause quite serious issues with the band.

Also, if the band is tight, it maybe that the sips you are taking are too big, that would also cause that burpy feeling that you describe, if the band is tighter through any reason, such as stress, TOTM, then it can affect how we need to eat, in that we need to take smaller mouthfuls, maybe wait longer.

It maybe worth jumping back to thin fluids for a day or too and see if it settles down, and then to try again, but certainly not to leave it. If you're sick or vomit at all, then don't leave it.

But as the band gets tighter it can take a lot of work with the mind to slow down the eating, smaller mouthfuls and waiting longer between it.

Oh My Sarah this is sad...I hope you get on OK

I have 8.5 in a 14ml and its not too bad at all. I can manage my cereal and light lunch evening time I seem to go a little tighter But I can drink fine
So my next fill will probably take me to 9 or 9.5 I hope I don't get what you have it sounds very uncomfortable my friend
:/ xxxxxx

Thankyou ladies!

Went to the clinic this avo, talked everything through with the nurse. She said we could try a stand-up aspiration (can't remember the name of it, durr), she would draw out quarter of a ml, I'd try to have a drink, then she'd draw out more until I was comfortable drinking again.
Sadly my port was playing bashful while I stood up, so we agreed to a standard lying down aspiration. We discussed whether 0.5ml or 1ml should be removed, but I've been so panicky and miserable we opted for the safe option of 1ml.
It's just as well, since there was quite a lot of pressure when she found the port and over half a ml squirted into the syringe of its own accord!

There was no issue drinking water afterwards, which was a HUGE relief!
I asked about how long to go back to liquids for, but the nurse told me to just have a couple of days on mushies, only go back to liquids if I was struggling. That was a big surprise - I was expecting 3 or 4 days on liquids.

I've since had a chai latte and a mug of tea with no issues at all - hurrah!

Such a relief, I can't tell you:) I have my next fill booked for mid January and the nurse thinks we'll probably go for 0.25ml, go very slowly from now on.

Ahhh I'm so glad you got it sorted out and you're feeling better.

Who would have thought such a tiny amount of fluid could make such a difference?

Hope it will all be fine now - and at least you know you're just a smidge away from the right restriction.

Www brilliant news! Glad things are better for you! Where is your port located mines inbetween my boobs if that makes sense? You must be nearing green! X

Glad things are a bit better now hunxx

My port is right behind the scar on my waist. When I lie down the nurse can normally find it, but standing up... no chance!

Owwwwwwwwwwww thank goodness Sarah...so relieved that you are feeling better Hun xxxxx
