Just confirming dates! Newbie on here!

Hello everyone,
I found this forum by chance when researching possible companies last week.
It is something I have thought about before and after years of battling and trying to control my weight I have decided to take the plunge.
I have my first appointment with The Hospital Group on Saturday and am going to Surgery on the 3rd of June hopefully. Just waiting for confirmation. My surgeon is Martin Richardson.
I am nervous and have mixed feelings in many ways ... although I want things to change your appearance to some extent defines you you are or peoples perception of who you are at least!
Health is my main reasons and vanity is a bonus ... If I don't do something I am limiting my life, holding myself back and I only have 1!!!
Thought by joining this forum it would provide some encouragement and support so heres to the future!!!!

Hi Workbear. I went through THG and had the same surgeon, he was absolutely brilliant. I had no problems with the surgery not even any gas pain and was up and running around after 5 days going to get my hair done, driving after a week and back to work after a week. I wish you all the best with your surgery and you will find all the support here that you need.

What surgery are you planning on having? I get my date for the op tomorrow. x

Hi I too had Mr Richardson for my surgery (bypass) I sailed thru, no pain relief at all once the op was over I had mine at the Spire in Solihull in late November last year and I'm 6st down

Op on June 3rd

Hi there everyone.

I am having my band done on June 3rd so really not far away at all.

This isn't something I have been thinking about for a long, long time. I have struggled with my weight forever and I guess this only recently occured to me as a possible solution.

My goals are fitness and health orientated. Better appearance and confidence will be a really nice by product ... but I have to lose weight to make some of my dreams possible and I just don't seem to have an off switch.

I am 18 stone 7 and 5ft 3 so have 8 and a half stone to lose as a minimum.

I carry myself well and dress well so most people would be SHOCKED that I am that heavy.

I have made the decision to do something about it and am really focused on my goals.

I am nervous about the lifestyle change and the op so any tips or encouragement would be welcomed!

This board looks useful - it doesn't come across very use friendly though so hope navigation will get easier!

I'm new on here too and your story sounds a lot like mine I'm 5'3' and 18st 10 and like you people are shocked if I tell them but I've got really good at hiding it but I know how bad it is underneath the nice clothes. I've yet to decide whether to have band or sleeve but I've resigned myself to the fact that I need to do something sooner rather than later. Good luck with your surgery x
