Loving this weight loss, don't get me wrong. Just thinking that we are loosing weight slowly but surely but how does the body know when to stop loosing weight. Will I just disappear uuuuurgh! Silly cow I know but interesting intellectual concept ?!?!

I don't know. My family are already saying 'don't lose too much' and I have to explain that it's up to my body not me when it stops.

As time goes on, you can eat more. You also start introducing more carbs etc, you'll balance out :) xxx

Thx for this. I know my weight loss has slowed right down & understand we have to be careful about not regaining etc. just realised it's exactly 6 months today since my sleeve op. hurrah! 6 months surgiversary! Gonna claim my badge now.

OOoooo it suits you :D well done :) xxx

Yup the carbs will slow it down!!

Yeppeople keep asking that question i think its a case of the body will just get used to surviving on what we give it just like it did before just on bigger portions before the op, so it will juststop but apparently it will go back up a little then settle there so watch this space xx I want to get more off before puttin gany on. Bit frightening isn't it.

Yeah I am a bit frightened of the longer term future to be honest but gonna continue to enjoy myself at the present. Just not eating for England anymore LOL

I agree surely all u do is.up the carbs.a bit and that would stop it. It must aloe down NaturallySpeaking after 6 months - 1 year.? Dont know for sure as not been done bit thats what my gp said.

Just reading through this thread, and when everyone was saying up the carbs etc., I just wondered how many carbs I should be consuming daily at the moment! I am on the pureed stage. I am calorie, protein, fat & carb counting, and my average carbohydrate intake in a day is around 45.. and protein intake around 50-60gms, and calories around 600... Is this too much to lose weight on? maybe thats why my weight loss has stopped. Would be grateful for a little guidance as this can be very confusing..

I've always wanted to turn sideways and disappear lol I might wait til I can do that and then start on the carbs!

Dont stress the numbers for carbs and protein, you tend to eat what your body needs.Just eat like a 'normal'person.Small portions of a balanced diet will give you all you need with your supplements. Its all about balance.Something we didnt have pre op.And dont worry if you dont hit bmi of 25 or get to an ideal weight. We are all different from statistics in books!

In my experience the weighloss can stall for a week or two and then it picks up a week later. As long as you continue to eat the recommended portions, time will take care of things...believe me I was just as worried.

Suppose I am worrying needlessly, but it's so hard at first to know if you are eating not enough or too much.. I don't seem to feel any restriction at the moment, but could that be because I am still on puree foods that go down easily??

Absolutley!Wait till you try chicken or bread!Toasted bread or weight watchers is best first of all it goes light and crunchy, then chew away!

Something they should tell you pre op is that you don't feel the restriction that much until you get on to firmer foods, I think we all panic it hasn't work but I agree as soon as you try something like chicken or toast you will soon know about it. In fact two ryvitas fill me nicely to the my limit (not overfull or painful). It's a nice feeling as before I never got full unless I ate stupid amounts and then I just felt sick. It's much nicer to feel restriction instead. Don't worrying about calorie counting, protein and carbs etc until you get on solid food. Even then not everyone does, I like to know what I'm eating as I feel in control but many people just use their body as a guide. At the moment you are just learning to eat again with your new insides. As it's been said just try to be balanced for now. You are doing great and you will see results soon I promise :)

x

I agree they should maybe prepare you a little better pre op for the liquid and puree stage, as it is almost like they haven't done anything!! I stick to small amounts of puree, but am pretty sure I could eat a lot more, and that was really worrying me. But knowing now that it's not just me and is normal is very reassuring..
