hey peeps i had my op done 12 days ago :) and i was given the fast tabs to take one every day but i cannot stomach them dont know why the minute they go on my tongue im retching its hell i was just wondering is there aniother tablet that does the same thing please help cheers

I swallow mine whole with a glass of water.

That way it minimises the time it is actually in your mouth.

You can get the lansaprazole in a capsule form or the strawberry on your tongue form. I cant get the capsule down so I´m back on the soluble. But I love the taste

I had the same problem, try to take it and it came back up so my gp put me on the capsule version. No problems now :)

thanks guys im not ment take tablets for six weeks so could i crush it into yougurt ill ave to get them of my doc tmw avent taken them last two days couldnt

I am allergic to them & post my op I was hospitalised with an allergic reaction. They have given me Rinitidine liquid & sucrafate suspension. These are not that pleasant but easy to take.

i got the swallow-able one so im just gonna open the capsule and put it in some yoghurt until i can swallow good riddance to them strawbery yokes yuck

How long are we supposed to take the lanzaprosole for??

You have to take them daily forever more once you've had a bypass.

Please check this with your team Eve, as we are all given different advice and you should stick to your providers.
I only had them for the first 3 months. Grace, appreciate you mean well, but the early days are when they are most crucial.

Yeah I agree check with your team because it varies. I'm pre op but I was told 1 yr

I had a sleeve not a bypass but the hospital gave me a months supply and in my noted is says 3 months so was wondering if I have to go to my gp for repeat prescription.

As everyone else has said check with your provider to see what they say. It could be different for a sleeve, i had a bypass and was advised the lansazprazole protects your new stomach and stops too much acid.
I was given a months supply by the hospital and I now have to get a repeat prescription from my gp every 3 months along with my forceval. The hospital wrote to my gp to explain the medication I would need. But to be honest different hospitals and different providers all follow different rules, guidelines and procedures so you really need to find out from whomever did your surgery what you should and shouldn't be doing along with what medication you should be taking and how often. Maybe call your gp to see if they have received a letter guiding them if you can't get hold of anyone at your hospital.
I hope you get it all sorted though.x

Has anyone had a reaction to these??? I was given some by the hospital and they were fine and I got some more from the docs, but because they left a really nasty taste I hadn't taken then for a week. But I though I'd best take them so started again today I had one this morning then felt hot/cold and just generally unwell and had diarrhoea, I thought it was my yogurt but I've just had another now and the same has happened again

I know bd had. I found no difference with or without them. Maybe ask about te capsules?

I take 'fastabs' since having my balloon inserted in Oct. I don't find they do any good at all! My acid reflux seems to start once I have taken it in the morning! I end up with it all day and after a few days end up being sick. I am going to ask to try something else.

Eve30: Yes you have to go and get more from your GP.
