lapband to bypass conversion.. Bariatric dietitian appointment Q`s??

id go to any apts they give you as it shows compliance with their criteria..... how long before you know the outcome of the 14th Nove???

hi, am in a similar situation, banded in 2006, privately. lost 7 stone, then started to have severe vomiting, reflux, choking at night, pouch wasnt emptying, and finally closed up causing dehydration.removed private again 2010, gained 6 stone back now awaiting bypass at heartlands, sounds like you are in with a big chance, they know it doesnt work for everyone, did you lose any weight - i was told by surgeon no need to prove weight management as it was obvious i could live with the disciplines involved. i have lost 5% since then, and still have to do pre-op when the time comes, but all hospitals different. good luck.

hi i am from wirral and the dietition appoint ment for were i am from was the first of many you have to loose 10% of you body weight from when she first weighs you on your first appointment, i had to see her twice a fortnight for 6 months,

but i also had to see a cognetive behaviour therapist along with the dietition for 6 months also.

i think this maybee the case for most who want funding for bariatric surgery.

hope this helped you a bit if i can help anymore please feel free to ask or pm me.

Hi Vampalicious,

One of the problems with offering advice is that every hospital/PCT seems to do things differently regarding funding and appointments.

From what you have said here your surgeon is supporting the application for funding and it could end up as something simple as evidence from him to the PCT of the complications suffered to push funding through.

I would say, keep the appointment so you are in the system then, if funding is turned down, you can appeal the decision rather than waiting and then putting in another new application. It took me 3 appeals to get funding and I see it as another of the hoops I had to jump through on my journey!

Good luck for the panel decision on Monday!

Tatiana

good luck vamp, i hope you get a positive decision, i know that your journey has been a long one x
