LOOSE EXCESS SKIN!

Hey everyone,

Now I'm guessing this is a subject that we have all asked ourselves at one time. I'm just wondering as a pre-opper, what are the post-oppers experiences like with skin going back? The one thing in not looking forward to is my tummy and my arms :-( I have a huge hang on my tummy now due to a sever oedema when I had my son and now I look like a kangaroo with a pouch :-( it causes many problems but I'm wondering if people experiences with loose gabby skin did it go back even a little xxx

Hi hunni we are about the same height and were about the same weight, I have lost almost 11st and as I was over 50yrs old when I had my op I really thought my skin would be horrendous but its no where near as bad as I thought I've gone from 22st 7 to 11st 10lbs

I know one thing for sure I'd rather be in a size 12 with hidden saggy skin rather than in a size 26 :)

Check you out sexy lady!! If my skin is half as good as yours after I've lost my weight I'll be over the moon!! I can't believe how well you have done! If you don't mind me asking how long since you had your op and what did you go for? Xxx

I am a year post bypass 21/11/13 I had my op x thanks for your kind words I just hope it's given you a bit of a light at the end of a tunnel x

Yes 100% has made me smile in just going to make sure I go to the gym and try keep it all toned :) think in going to go for the bypass that's what my doctor recommended anyways xx thank you xx

unfortunately no, similar size too and I've lost 11 stone so far and the skin and overhang really is awful. Issues with infections, sores, and so much skin that it hasn't gone back at all.

I didn't think it would bother me, but it does because it's so awful, but even feeling as I do, it's better being lighter with loose skin....no amount of gym, toning or anything will make a difference, surgery is my only answer.....

I'm with Top Kat I'm afraid.

I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens. If needed I guess I'll look into surgery but obviously not til my weights stable and I'm at a more realistic weight x

It has a lot to do with age as well, my provider told me that from 40 the skin loses a lot of its elasticity and therefore ability to reduce without problems...this is a major worry of mine but given that I'm still young (29) the consultant told me that with regular exercise and toning I shouldn't have too much of a problem - however, I'm only just over a month post surgery so I've still yet to see if it is going to be a problem or not....but on the whole I think it is entirely personal and whilst it might be great for some people it might be a nightmare for others :)

This is why I thought I'd be bad being over 50 but its no where near as bad as I thought it would be :)

I'm 36 and I'm a bag of skin and bone! But I'm with Butterfly - much rather be a size 6/8 with saggy bits than a size 24 that can barely walk!!

Ok ladies I'm on it lol! I'll stick up on cans of beans and get myself a gym membership luckily there's a personal trainer that specialises in people that have had weight loss surgery 2 minutes from where I live lol. No excuses not to go now lol. Thank you all it is all a huge worry of mine maybe more than the missing food post op ect but I will just have to see what happens and if need be ill be getting a nip and tuck xxx

Im the same too. Im in training at the gym now. So hopefully mine doesnt go that bad. Its my belly i hate. But i suppose its a remimder of my 2 gorgeous kids that out it there lol. I also wanted to kno if anybody has any idea of good creams/ lotions for stretch marks. Ive tried bio oil ect Xx

I don't know whether it's fact or not, but I think for those of us who have yo-yoed the skin is worse. About 14 years ago I went from 18 1/2 stone to 12 stone through dieting - had no loose skin. Put back on up to 17 stone, lost down to 11 1/2 stone - had no loose skin. Put back on to 14 stone, lost down to 10 1/2 stone - had so much loose skin it was daft. I've now gone from 14st 5 to 12st 2lbs and have A LOT of skin already. Inner thighs, tummy and arms are the worst. Need a lottery win I think to get all that sorted.

I've been looking at deals lol I'm thinking the mummy makeover is going to be the best option but I'm just looking forward to getting back in heels lol xxx

I'm like you bear!..... Loads of yo yo dieting.... Even at my heaviest 18.7 I had reams of loose skin and didn't fit it, particularly bingo wings!... I could honestly have had an arm lift pre opp so I know it's never going to go back.... 3 stone down and it's getting worse but hey ho!....I will deal with it once I shift the rest.. I'm 52 but also blond and very fair skinned which I don't think helps as we seem to have thinner less springy skin.

Im only nearly 3 months post op and ive lost a few stones and have flabby arms & belly still and wobbly legs im hoping I will be ok with that as I am right now but like others have said I would rather be smaller with flabby skin than the big girl I was before!
