Well, today I've done another presentation in the Sheffield area and just 8 'patients' were there today. 7 of them men!

They really are tighening up the criteria!

Wow 7 men! Thats good news Mixxy but bad news about all the cut backs, I really feel for all the obese people out there who are going to be turned down for surgery because of the stricter criteria. XX

Oh my word Mixxy... what exactly is the criteria now in your area?

Love and hugs precious xxx

I'm sure you must be looking good Mixxy, with all of the exercise you do and you are sounding really good too...
hoping this is going to be your year!

Love and hugs for all the best in every respect xxx

I have noticed just on here since xmas how many more are looking for wls and how many are being turned away now.I am starting to worry that I wont get my surgery after all this time because I am not super morbidly obese/dont have co morbs.

It would be interesting to know the current statistics for both plastics and wls surgery... of those pending etc etc... I wonder if there is an up to date list available from the NHS nationally?

It's also important not to confuse wls surgery waiting with criteria for plastics waiting surgery... Mixxy is referring to Plastics surgery today... ( I sometimes have to be sure of where people are up to when we are talking of criteria, since we are all at so many stages... lol)

Good luck to everyone who feels that they need help in any way... not enough understanding is given for the needs of those who feel they need to pursue this route, usually borne out of despair... so I'm really feeling for you all... it's one heck of a long rollercoaster ride....

Love and hugs everyone xxx

I've not seen many folks form Scotland on here
and the ones that are went to England to go private
Or the people that did get funding had been banded (witch i don;t want it wont work i know this form reading about people and the medical evidence)

One min its the gov't will pay for wls then its they've backed out
well? whats it to be?

I seriously worry i won't be getting any surgery, EVER.
And i'll be going to pointless appointments at a weight clinic and be patronized like i'm fat due to my fault.

Like i said in another post there is always a reason for someones weight and how it all starts and how they ended up where they are illness or not.

I hate this gov't.

oo wow, well when i read these threads it still sets in a mild panic!!!!! do you think they d say no to me now?... omg imagine :(

We are in difficult times for sure Claire... I'd explore your options when you can with your GP.

Kell... I don't think you will be refused, you are well into the system and now on the waiting list... I know what you mean though. I won't believe I'm having my surgery until I wake up after it.

Love and hugs everyone and if I were just starting out for surgery... I'd be making a strong case and discussing it earlier rather than later in all honesty.

Good luck to everyone xxx

It's interesting re the plastics funding....below a BMI of 25 for 2 years will be very hard to achieve for many people, as I would hazard a guess & say it's probably the excess skin which is stopping them from getting there in the first place....a vicious circle really with goal-posts most will never get too.

I've an appt with my GP on Monday
The options for me Bev have been done
in fact when i was told to lose weight i was offered right off the bat Xenical i said i'd think about it and i did and gave it a go i lost some weight on it but couldnt stick to it because i was having problems mentally. i tried Xenical three more times last time was summer last year till now i'm meant to be on it now.

I think my problem lies with the fact that i know i will put the weight back on when i come off the weight loss meds its happened before.

I think a Bypass will hand my weight the death sentence its needs i've battled my weight (seriously) since i was 13 trying every pill , patch , diet , and stopping eating , to cutting out everything. To go to see dietitians at hospital since i was 10 ive been five or six times to one ive done what they said followed there plans and put on weight when it comes to my weight ive followed everything those professionals have said to the letter then they turn around and patronized me like im just a person who doesnt know how to make a good choice. It doesnt matter what i eat i'm going to put on weight cause for me its crabs to fat and not crabs to energy <---thats what they dont see or get because in reality they know nothing about PCOS i've had that admitted to me from the professionals.

Anyway long post trying to explain that i htink wls IS my only option left having tried and faced failure more times than i can count.

At least i can ask to be transfared elase were if the Glasgow pct doesnt want to fund me i've my choice of the whole of the UK just as well aint everybody from all the UK has that choice.

Well done Claire, it sounds like you are already 'streets ahead' and have done a lot of thinking and self exploration.

For me, it's been an advantage not rushing into the surgery... I've learned so much from on here to take forward with me and it's really been a learning experience.

We are blessed on here to have so many experienced and supportive members.

I'd keep a diary for sure from now on and keep chipping away at your goal... other options haven't worked and if your weight is affecting your other issues... then I'm hoping everything will be taken into account for you.

Keep us all posted and keep reaching for your goal... you are doing brilliantly!

Thanks for the update Claire... night and God Bless xxx

Thanks Bev i am keeping one - a private one for now.

My weight affects everything i do and even how other people 'See me' they see my weight and not me and even call me 'big yin' oh how i hate that name. makes me feel like a fat man even though im a woman.

anyways night Bev and god bless

NO! Just NO! You're on the witing list and it will happen any time soon!

In some respects it's good that Sheffield are seeing less referrals, since they obvioulsy aen't coping with those they have. Like Sugga and others who've been messed about so much.
Looks like they need to get their back-log sorted before they take on any more people.
