May 2014 Surgeries

Not seen anything yet on the other threads. How are the other May oppers that have already had their surgeries? I can't find any posts from Change4life, how are the rest of you doing?

I'm getting so nervous now. 1 day left at work. 1 day left of food etc. :)

Got all my paperwork through this morning from the hospital. It says if I have to stay in due to emergency they will charge me between £800 to £1500 per night. Well they would be **** out of luck, as I'm using all my money for this op!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all well today!! Terrilou thinking about you!!

I am banded and feeling well apart from the expected pain and a dangly bit at the back of my throat!! They kept me in overnight so just waiting for the doc to come and discharge me. Maybe then I will get home to my bed and get some sleep!!

Today is the first day of the rest of my life!!

Xx

That seems like an awful lot of money for a night! Which company are you using?

Wishing you the VERY best for your lighter future. Well done! xx

I'm having it done at kings college with Mr Patel. I pay him and the hospital separately. I didn't realise this until I got 2 separate invoices.

How odd! Well, it seems it. I'm sure it'll all be fine, just a bit of a strange arrangement, or is that normal?

Wishing you all the best regardless! x

Well done mandi welcome to the other side

Good to hear all went well, here's to the future :)

good to hear from you Mandijayne, nice to know your home and ok. what is the danglybit?;)[/QUOTE ]

Still in hospital!! Waiting on some bloods before they will let me go hopefully I will escape around tea time! The dangly bit is at the back of my mouth on the roof. It is called the uvula. They have irritated it with the tube. Feels like I have something caught in my throat and makes swallowing difficult. Takes about 5 days to go back to normal. Xx

sorry mandijayne, missed the fact that you were still there. hope you get home tonight.
:D
Good luck for your op tomorrow terrilou:)

Mandijayne, so glad all is well and I hope your 'dangly bit' goes down quickly.

Thanks for your well wishes everyone. I had a phone call today asking me to get to the hospital for 7 instead of 10 as I'm going to be the first op done now. Woohoo!!! Very excited. Scared as its a huge op, but they do so many and the bypass seems to be Derby Hospital's favourite, so I'm sure it'll all be fine.

I hope Change4life is OK.

No you could be anywhere I had to be yhere at 7 and didnt go down til 4pm depends on how many on the day and they tend to prioritize harder cases first I think
