May 2014 Surgeries

Hi Pops,

I waited 10 days but could have driven sooner as I wasn't in any bad pain :)

Cherry,
I was sleeved on 6th May and feel great!! All the best with your journey, let us know how your surgery goes!xx

How long have u all waited to drive after op? It's goin b a big thing for me as my oh works for himself so is out a lot and the kids school is 3 miles away so not walkable distance I do drive auto myself so I'm hoping I can get back to it pretty quick plus I hate stoppin in the house lol still it will give me chance do plenty of studying I suppose x

I had surgery on a Wednesday, discharged on Saturday, drove on the Monday.

When I went for my check-up the following week, the nurse said "you can drive from tomorrow".

I'd already been driving for 10 days! It felt absolutely fine though, no discomfort whatsoever.

I also rode my motorcycle within 10 days of surgery. It was all good.

hows the may oppers all doing good i hope i wont go through all the posts to lazy but hope all are doing fine

Hi hope everyone is doing well. I am waiting til next week to drive so a week post op. Still adjusting to the band have good and bad days. Today I got on the scales and I have lost 1st 5lb in 20 days including the preop diet so I am happy! ! Desperate but happy lolololol!! Looking forward to getting off this liquid diet!

Well today I'm going shopping. As I don't own a nightie or pj's I thought it's best for everyone if I go and buy some! I'm also going to treat myself to some pure cotton knickers (in hope they let me keep them on), some lip balm, dry mouth spray and sf juice.

I also have my first ever appointment at the job centre. I got made redundant last week, and have never been out of work before. I think I'm more nervous about that, than the op! I've heard they are pretty grim places!

I would recommend pj's as they will come and check your wounds. Best to have a bottom half on. I kept my own underwear on, even though a Nurse told me that I would be given a sexy pair of net ones. Seems she didn't know. Wear a pair you won't mind getting the iodine on as that stains. I delayed putting my pj's on for the first day as my drain site kept leaking and I'd rather get that on the hospital gown than my stuff. :0)

I had nighties and yes cotton knickers I took an old pair for op and they got thrown away after the iodine gets everywhere

Def recommend pj's. Short sleeves aren't essential as blood pressure can be done over a thin sleeve. I bought lots of antacids but so far have only needed to use one of them!! My wounds are all on my upper stomach so no issue with iodine on pants. X

I was given some antacids by the hospital. They gave me them whilst I was in too.

I bought a nightie and pj's in the end. I'm gonna go with the pj's if I can bend to put them on lol. I'm getting a bit excited now!

God I never even thought of undies or pjs lol I wear old t shirts at Home cuz they comfy I hate proper pjs n nighties lol best get lookin for sum half decent cheap granny pants to lol x

I went to evans today and bought some massive granny cotton pants. I wear mainly trackie bottoms and tshirts in bed, so I bought a nightie just incase I couldn't bend over lol. I got some miniature shampoos and face cream. A dry mouth spray and the small squirty handbag size sugar free juice thing. I think I'm done now. Just waiting for a few bits to be washed and my bag is packed!

i had my bag packed before xmas and didnt op til april lol
