Mulitvitamins

I know we are suppose to use the liquid multivitamins in the first month but I am finding both the smell and taste a bit off putting ,so my question is this I I can find a soft chewable alternative do you think it would be ok to use these. I am 4 days post op. I know I should ask the dietian at the hosp but I can hear her saying the liquids only

Yes you can from the start I had bassets multi vitamins & minerals either the kids or adults versions I brought them on a 3 for 2 offer that'd at least 2 lots of this offer 1chew a day so lasted long enough to get to solids & be settled with that before starting the normal tablet bombs into my new tum.

I have not been given any vitamins following funded surgery - been told I'll have to buy my own if I can afford to (luckily I can!) They only let me see the hospital dietician because I had no idea what to do post discharge.

I've made an appointment to see the dietician at the local health centre - and the earliest I can see him is March 29th!

If it's that dalivit stuff it is vile but I found it was better mixing with a little orange juice

Dinda that's awful, I was NHS too,my hospital sent me home with everything I need, they are now giving me appointments with dietitian every month and she writes to my gp to tell her what I need to be prescribed!

As for liquid multi vits, I was given tablets the same day in hospital, and carried on taking them when I went home, Now I am on Forceval, they look scary because they are huge but I manage them fine. x

i was the same as Anna, you really should've at least been given pain relief and letter for doc and appt for 6 weeks check which should be dietician and surgeon , i have had to buy my own multi vits but have 3 month supply of ranitidine and adcal3 also was given the jab 10 days worth ( can't remember name) to stop blood clots , make sure thay have contacted the district nurse or doctors for you to get staples out :)

I'll be ok. I'm going to book an appointment to see a nutritionalist soon - that should sort me out longer term.

I got pain medication, injections and the tummy coating tablets - so it wasn't THAT bad :) but I was astounded not to be funded for dietician support - even just initially. I was saying in the hospital 'In 4 days I've had half a glass of milk and 2 spoons of tomato soup, I need to sort my my nutrition out'

omg thats terrible nutricion wise im having more than that im only 4 days post op hun might be an idea look for a link on here to others post op diet sheets that they have shared unil you get to see some1 as mine explains everything like adding marvel milk to milky drinks for extra protein and cheese to soups ,im on sloppy for 4 weeks then go to puree ,bless you gl xxx

i can't believe a dietician didn't even visit you in the hopsital they are being paid by nhs for two years for your treatment and wellbeing :( please phone them on monday and ask to speak to one because you are definitely entitled and if you don't get the proper care now it could do damage in the long run especially if you are not eating proper food for healing etc xx i hope you're ok

I was told not to have multivitamins for the first month post-surgery. Funny how they are all so different!

I'm now taking Boots Multivits & minerals, using up the ones I had in anyway (Yorkshire blood!!), but then I will be prescribed Forceval afterwards.

Don't worry lovelies!!! - I'm on free fluid now for week one. I was talking about when I was in hospital (Mon - Thurs) since coming home it's been blissful and I'm feeling better every single minute. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.
They let me see the hospital dietician and she gave me a sheet for week by week food stages.

Hi

I was told by the Dieticians at St Richards that i sould only take the solid Multi Vits as the liquid and chewable ones do not contain the correct vits and minerals, only the solid ones contain the correct ones.

Paul

paul what surgery have you had/waiting for?

My surgeon told me to take the sanatgen a-z multi vitamins and minerals (2 per day) also pregaday iron pills ( these melt and dont get stuck in your pouch) and a Vit D /calcuim one. I also have the lanzaropole and thyroxine.

none of the above can be taken together - so again not enough hours in the day !!
