i was sitting in the staffroom today chatting to workmates an my boss comes in sits down an says debbie this operation are you sure its a big thing ,an if you gotta do this milk diet why dont you just start it now an lose the weight that way.now she is a size 8 never had weight problems .she just carried on telling me how big the op is an am i sure ,i was livid an really upset ,people just dont understand how many diets i have done lost an gained,an how desperate i was the day i went to the gp to ask just over a year ago.dont they realise how much research we've done to get to here.sorry moan over:wave_cry:

yep skinny people just dont understand thats why minis is invaluble as we all understand how each other feels.

Hi Debs, it sounds like a real case of the "Well, have you tried dieting?" chestnut doesn't it. To which, what can you do? What can you say?

People who have always been slender just cannot get their head around the fact that most people in our position have tried everything.

This is the last chance saloon and it's not undertaken lightly and nor is it "weakness" or "cheating". How many people here have lost stones and stones of weight over the years? Shown tremendous strength of will as we have battled against our bodies - trying to stop them storing fat while all they want to do is store it up in preparation for the next famine?

Do people of "normal" size truly believe that we want to have horrible comments made and our choices discussed casually in the staffroom. If you were having a hysterectomy there would not be casual comments, questions and people telling you not to. It would just be accepted.

On the one hand it's (I suppose) nice that yr Boss cares, on the other hand she has not got a clue (and you may feel like punching her with that hand anyway!). No understanding of the situation at all. And yet everyone is an "expert". How many of us have had others point out helpfully that maybe we should try eating less and exercising more. Dur!

I'm so not surprised you are PO'd. Still, it is her ignorance that is the problem and not you.

Ignore her Debs I know easier said than done. People like her don't think if they are upsetting anyone. She is probably jealous because when you have had your surgery you will look a million times better than her.

Oh :( i really feel for you..for this reason exactly im not telling anybody about my op. Its a shame because id like to not lie but there we are its just the way people can be :(

Some people just love to say their piece hun.

You know your reasons and why you want the proedure, and thats all that matters xx

omggggg.. howwwwwww you never hit her is beyond me!

Think my comeback would have been along the lines of 'thanks for your concern but least once my weight is gone I'll feel better but you're always going to be an ignorant blurt arent you'.. and walked out :)

As has been said previously.. you know the reasons, its your life and you dont answer to anyone and dont have to explain yourself either..

so sod um all n look forward to your new life and you have all of us on here to help you through your dark days

Hi Debs
If we all had a pound for everytime a person with no weight problem says "why don't you diet" we would all be giving up our jobs and living in luxury. Don't let her get to you i agree it's def your boss's problem and not yours. I've been lucky as i manage a childrens home we have a close team and a few of them say they "admire me" and are being very supportive. As Liz said we are all here to support each other and i love being part of this site so your'e boss doesn't have a chance with us around ha ha x

theres always 1 skinny control freak around to stick the boot in and try to persuade us that wls isnt for us, thats down to there insecurities of the change that will happen to us. shes a nothing a nobody, do this for you and nobady else tell her to stick her comments up her size 8:massmoon: ;)

**hugs** Debs x

I too would have been very upset to be grilled and made to feel uncomfortable in front of everyone else. Does your boss has a boss? If so, I would be having words! There is a time and a place for such things!

We really need to sort out meeting up for a drink so we can have a good whinge about all the skinny minnies who just don`t "get it"!

Chin up! x

SS...you are so right, there's a time and a place and that wasn't it....what an ignorant biatch :mad::mad:

if it were so easy to lose weight we certainly wouldn't be taking this route....GRRRRRR!!!

:grouphugg:aww your all so wonderfully supportive dont know what id do without you, im so glad i found you all seems wev'e been friends for years.and yess ss we must sort out that drink. oh an by the way went into work on sat morn my boss gave me a big bunch of flowers a hug an said she was out of order an sorry.i told her about you lot an how if she dont understand she should just keep quiet.thanks again for your brill words love to all

That's a good happy ending to the situation Debs. Really glad for you x

OMG, i not a violent person but if that was my boss i prob would have been tempted to swipe her round the head with a folder lol.

Ignorant cow, she really hasn't a flippin clue, and obviously has NO caring bones in her body or consideration for others feelings at all.

I am pleased she realised she was in the wrong, I bet there weren't as many people around when she apologised though. Take care we are always here to support each other.
