New bander.... on Thursday!

I think the 20-20-20 rule is useful. Will make sure to keep it in mind.
The thing is - I've been on the real-food pre-op diet, and although the first 2 days were torture, my body quickly adapted and its been okay since. I've basically been calorie counting - making sure that I consume approx 800 calories, with one day a week where I up it to 1000 calories. I started off eating 1 weetabix with skimmed milk in the morning, then 2tbps of rice with 75g red meat for both lunch and dinner, and had 2 nectarines and some veggies in between. I'm actually not a huge fan of meat - the smell of it really gets to me, so I had to change the plan for the second week and basically changed lunch to 2 slices of low fat cheddar with 2 ryvita, and dinner to soup. I will know total loss tomorrow morning, and will make sure to report it.
I am hoping I have managed to lose approx 6kgs... but that might also be wishful thinking!

I will make sure to msg tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital at 7am, and I am first on the list for surgery, so I should have the operation at approximately 8:30am. I don't know how long it will take for the anesthesia to wear off.. but... I will try my best to post an update.

Am getting a little nervous now...

Goodluck for tomorrow!! Hope you manage to sleep ok tonight. I'm having my band done one 9th Oct so not long to go either. Let us know how it goes! xx

I confess, I do not stick to the 20 20 20 rule

Hello everyone.... I'm alive!!!!

So.. I woke up from anaesthesia, and my shoulder pain was excruciating! I felt completely dehydrated and was too preoccupied with the pain that I couldn't dose off. In any case, I was given some morphine, which helped with the pain, but made me feel soooo dizzy, so I ended up getting a second pain killer that finally worked. I have only managed to drink water and a little tea with milk.

Am feeling a lot better... but will be staying the night to recover a little more.

will report more tomorrow.

Many thanks for you best wishes.

S xx

So pleased all went well sorry you have pain but you had a cup of tea that always makes us feel human again
All the best
Mark

Glad that your ok x hope the wind pain eases and you get some sleep x

Congratulations!! Well done! How's the pain now? I hope the nurses are managing it well now. Sorry to hear its so painful for you :( x

It's like night and day - yesterday was a pretty painful day, but the nurses handled it will, and my doctor came by and gave me a wee pep talk. In the end, I did have surgery, so pain is expected, but the wind pain was torture only because it persists in the same location and it's reallyyyyy annoying! One of the nurses gave me morphine - the doctor was furious when he found out because morphine makes some people dizzy and nauseous and that was the opposite of what he wanted. So the pain killer that they pumped into me was a strong suposetry type (tmi?) but it worked wonders!

I feel a lot better today. Walked around a lot, have only managed to have some tea and water, but I will try soup later in the evening if I an up for it. I got home at approximately 10am, and I have managed to dose of for a few hours. I feel better rested.

For those of you about to have the surgery, as long as you are aware that the first day is tough, and make sure your doctor/nurse gives you some strong painkillers, the pain will vastly deteriorate over time. If I wasn't given the morphine, I would have been a lot hAppier. I guess it just didn't agree with my body.

Anyways.... It's done now!!!!!!!! Am very excited for the future! And I really do hope that we can encourage each other to stay in track and be focused.

I cant thank you all enough for all your messages. I hope we work wonders together!

S x :D

Congratulations on getting through it all, poor thing you sound as if you had a bad time with the wind pain. I really appreciate you letting us know as then I am aware of what to expect so it isn't so frightening! Everyday will get better, especially as the scales start going down :) can't wait for that part!!! Take care hon and well done x

Congratulations Slothey! I'm looking forward to being on your side of the surgery. It's starting to loom large on the horizon (22nd Oct) and start milk/yogurt diet on Monday. Keep us updated! Your posts are really helpful and answer questions I didn't know I had! =)

How are you Gemby? Have you got all your bits and pieces in to start the diet Monday? I'm packed and ready (except still haven't got pyjamas) trip to asda this week will hopefully sort that. Are you getting excited? X

Welcome to the Banders Bench

I was in sooo much pain the first two days, but I only got given paracetamol routinely, only when I rebelled a bit did they up it to a low dose of Tramadol, that sent me a bit crazy did I get some pain relief, would have loved to have the morphine !!!

It's all upwards and onwards from here
