I've had the worst time with everything since surgery, well after I left the hospital. Im not really in pain but Im uncomfortable with drinking and trying puree things. Im having a hard time taking pills including my vitamins.I know it will get better in time but I feel like this surgery is a mistake. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this feeling go away?

Hi sweetie the first couple of weeks are the worst.
The only advise I can give to get you throught the worst is to take your pain killers on time, rest as much as possible, take little walks and take all the help you can get.
Hope you feel better soon:hug99::hug99:

Hello Sweetheart and :welcome2:

It is a pretty rough time just following surgery, but it will soon pass. When you look back in a few weeks time you will realise it was the best decision to take, it will make you a lot healthier and happier :)

Just take small steps to help rid yourself of post-op wind, also anything you drink, take your time and just sip away all day long.....things will get better hun x

Take care babe x

Love Kat x

Hi Hun I'm nearly 2 weeks post op & now feel great. It is awful the first week to two weeks. I've been taking meltlets as pain killers as they melt on your tongue. Best advice I found was rest & sip loads of water. Slimfast is a good meal to have as it has all the right things in it. Also bassetts chewy vitamins are good.
I also had fresh soups from asda liquidated which are lovely especially pea & ham.
You do feel like what have I done for a start but hang in there sweet another week on & you'll feel much better. Xxx

I have no wise words as months/years away from any sort of surgery but listen to these good people and hang on in there.

Hope you feel better soon xx

Firstly the wind pain is very uncomfortable, gentle walking around your home/garden will help shift it, one day you'll wake up and its gone :)

Now for struggling with pills, go ask your gp or pharmacist what soluble painkillers you can have. Sip very slowly, if you are feeling really thirsty maybe get some mini milk ice lollies in as they are fab...

Take it from me and all of the above, once your pain clears and you get adjusted to your new pouch you will love your bypass.....

Just take time to rest and listen to your body xx

Hello!!! I remember after the 4th/5th day I was lay on my couch crying as I couldn't do n e thing, I couldn't even get up for the pain and I hated my boyfriend having to help me do everything!!! At that point I thought what have I done?????

7 weeks on I am starting to answer that question.... And it's all good!!! In only a short space of time things have changed dramatically, for one people are complementing me on my weight loss which feels amazing!!!

I'm not going to lie to you it is very hard and I really did feel pain and sometimes still do.... But the best thing is about this site is you realise everybody is different and has a story so your in the right place to talk about it and get answers!!

Keep strong pet... Xx

Hello I am 13 days RNY post op and I know exactly what you mean, my gas pain did not go away until day 8 and I was walking about 20 min a day. Finally I took gas-x strips and I started burbing like crazy. Pain was gone still felt discomfort but, bearable.

I felt like that, after I got home...that I had done this horrible thing to myself. I was having a very difficult time eating anything and still can only stomach ice cold liquids. I was throwing up 80 percent of the time. This lasted over a month. I kept in contact with my surgeons office and everything they did for me was helping and eventually my body balanced out. I remember in orientation they said most people get the post op blues, because you feel so awful. Just take things slow, really slow. Your body is going through a major adjustment. There is alight on the other side. I am 4 months out from my surgery and have lost 86 plus pounds. And generally feel amazing in comparison to the way I felt before surgery. It will get better just be patience and keep coming here for support.

Good morning and welcome.

I can't give any advice as I am in the very early stages of the whole process but so many of these guys and gals around the boards have spoken about feeling how you do now but also how different they feel weeks down the line so take hope from that xx
