Hi I'm so happy to have found this site. I am 4 day post op and worried in case I try and eat the wrong things. At the moment im having very thin porridge made with milk for breakfast and yoghurt later in the day. Should I be having more e.g. scrambled egg or soup? Any advice would be gratefully received.

This is my first post op day. All you are aloud is liquids. I'm surprised your on porridge . Check with your dietician. Well done for getting through your surgery.

Welcome Barbara

Which type of surgery have u had?

I had a gastric bypass and in the early weeks i had plenty of milk, water, could manage weetabix with plenty of milk so its soft n runny and greek yoghurt also thinned out out with a little milk with pureed fruit added to it .....bt everyone is different so go with the advice u have been given by the dietician or the surgeon :) x

Different surgeons recommend different things and this advice also varies according to the op you had.

Welcome Barbara and congratulations on getting through your op. Which type did you have?
Your team should have given you some very specific info re what they wanted you to eat post op although once you are allowed more than clear liquids, the general rule of thumb is to try and keep your protein intake up. Good luck.

Hiya and welcome. I'm 2wks post op with a bypass. Still on pureed food, but slowly adding textures as the days progress. Soon become full though. Best keep to light mashed food for a while.

hi Barbara and welcome :D im a week post op and ive been on purée since day 2. i have half a weetabix made sloppy with milk, i have pureed spag bol, mince, mash potato, peas, chicken basicly anything you had before but made sloppy. i heard fish pie is a good one. chicken oxo cubes is another fav and ive just had a bowl of weight watchers low fat custard. as long as its low in sugar and fat so you dont dump you will be fine :)

obviously im not eating this all in one day haha

I had a sleeve 2 weeks ago and I have to be on liquids only for another week. Then I can add pureed foods for another 2 to 3 weeks. After that I can slowly add soft foods.
So far liquid is fine by me. My stomach is grumbling alot but I'm not really hungry. A cuo of broth fills me up.
