Hi All

I'm sitting here waiting for my Son Martyn to come home with his GCSE results and feel sick with anticipation.

He's had a tough time of it this year and has been through the mill healthwise. Back in January a very silly girl in his yeargroup caused him serious damage by grabbing him in the boys bits, which led to a torsion of the testicles.
After enduring an operation to correct the damage and to prevent it occuring again, he ended up with a severe infection, abcess and herniated wound with swelling the size of a honeydew melon and spent a week in hospital on IV antibiotics....he had an open wound for 5 months as the surgeon wouldn't operate due to the infection.

Throughout all of this, he only lost 4 weeks of schooling and even went in for exams just before and after his surgery.

He went for an ultrasound scan yesterday, and the testicle that was damaged has died and moved up to his abdo area, so further surgery may still be on the cards :sigh:

I really hope he does well, but all things considered, if he doesn't he's still the best Son I could have ever wished for and am so very proud of him :hug99:

hi yvonne, its awfull thats this happened to your son, i hope the girl that has done this has been punished for her actions, yes you should be proud of him no matter what, i hope his results are what hes hoping for, either way your proud of him, i am also of my little boy.

well he's achieved -

1 A, 6 B's & 4 C's....he's a little disappointed but I think he's done fab :winner:

That's an amazing achievement - and will get him into a lot of colleges' - what does he want to do?

And what a horrific story - you can only hope that she lives within the boundaries of her conscience and feels utterly remorseful.

Well done Red 42 Jnr :553::talk017::clap::happy096:

Thankyou TPT

he's going on to 6th form...wants to do Geography, Geology and 2 others which he is now having a rethink about...is considering Air Traffic Control when he's 18 but ultimately would like to fly :)

he didn't want the girl in question to get into trouble as she was already in foster care and he said she has a hard time...that's him all over though, he's very caring...in reality we could have had the girl up for ABH, but it was his decision as he's 16 :sigh:

Well done Red 42 Jnr - especially when he did them under such awful circumstances.

There is a young guy in the bed opposite my OH in hospital who had a similar injury - all I will say is football + foul + football boots + metal studs and you will understand why even I am wincing. (Mind you, he was trying to get his good looking girlfriend to get into bed with him during visiting last night so he must be feeling a bit better ;))

You should be proud mum, they are really good results - and if he is a bit disappointed, he can always do even better with his As.

love

What a lovely son you have Yvonne, to go through all that and then recognise that the girl had issues and therefore he did'nt want to add to them. He has acheived 11 GCSE'S which is a fantstic result and is doing another year at school i'm sure he is going to be very successful in whatever he decides to do. No wonder you are a proud mum x

well done for those results and for coping with the situation in an adult manner for a 16 r old :D
You have every reason to be as proud of him as you obviously are. He sounds like a lovely lad.
Good luck for his future :D

:D thats fantastic, well done to him and congratulations xxxx

You must be so proud to have such a brave son Yvonne who, despite being horribly injured by this girl's terrible actions, has been concerned about her well being and has been unbelievably forgiving. That is a sign of such a remarkable person. I am truly touched by this.

And his GCSE results - excellent! What a guy.

You must be so proud - and I hope he is proud of himself too.

Very warmest wishes to you and to your incredible son xx

Crikey!

I went through school hoping & praying for a girl to grab my "boy's bits"! but after reading that, thank god it never happened!!! ;)

Only joking, that sounds terrible, I just hope the girl in question has been informed of the results of her actions & understands the enorimty of the situation, only then could she show true remorse. It doesn't solve the issue, but would go some way towards healing psycological wounds!

Excellent results, all pass grades.

Well done Martyn! :party0049:

What a compassionate son you have Yvonne! He sounds like a really lovely person and I can understand how proud of him you are.

Congratulations on his excellent exam results, I'm sure he is going to go far in whatever career he chooses.

Pat on the back to you too for raising such a lovely boy.

(((hugs)))

yes, the Surgeon thought he'd been playing football or some such sport, but it actually took us 2 weeks to get to the bottom of what had really happened...he at first told us that he'd just got in the way of some lads who were larking around and had gotten kicked
it was whilst he was in hospital that I got the school onto the case and that's how we found out about the girl.

the main thing is he's been assured that he will manage perfectly fine with the good one he has left

Hi BBS

I never in my wildest dreams could have thought that mens conkers could swell like that...it certainly made all the blokes in our family cringe :faint2:

Did he ask them if they could take away the pain, but keep the swelling? ;)

Sorry, i know it's no laughing matter, but humour is defo my coping mechanism!

Glad he is ok, I'm pretty sure prosthetics are readilly available these days though, has he looked into that at all?
