Op date on 22nd June, new to forums

Hi all. I'm Jo and I've never posted on a forum before because I never felt I had anything worth saying. But having this op is the biggest thing I have ever done so I felt I had to start talking about it and finding the right support. Just received my date for the Sleeve Gastrectomy at Sheffield and have just started my pre op diet. Any tips on getting through this next week or so without exploding from excitement and anxiety?

I agree with starry-eyed start preparing yourself for the big day sort out what you want to take to hospital ( believe me you don't need much! I took way too much) get some mini plastic pots in pre make some soups get your home sorted so less to do at least for the first few days when you return home from the hospital good luck!

Take it hour by hour .
We can all tell you that the ore op diet is hell .. But once your past the first 4/5 days you will be ok ..
You will be going through a major withdrawal from junk food carbs and your head hunger is going to do everything it can to make you break your diet .. This sounds dramatic but it's true ..
Keep telling yourself , it's not for long , it's not for long . Just be blinkered and focus on the end game and what you truly want to achieve ..
We are and have been slaves to what we have chosen to put in our mouths in the past . No one forces us to eat junk , high fat , high cal and high carb food , we are junkies and that's what we have chosen to break up with ..
What diet have they put you on ?
Are you ready to let us know a little more you yet , like your BMI and height etc ?
I am a Bander of just 12 weeks tomorrow and I've lost just under 4st so far :)
Welcome and don't be afraid to ask anything , someone here will know the answer

Thanks countrywench. Great advice. I've not been keeping track of my BMI just my weight. I'm currently 316lbs and 5 foot tall. My operation is in Sheffield so I am on the milk and yoghurt diet, 3 pints of milk and 2 yoghurts a day for 10 days. This is my 1st full day and I'm feeling ok. I did the Cambridge shakes only diet for 3 months on a trial once so I'm hoping that experience will help me through this diet. I'm still in the excited phase of just finding out at the moment but need to get myself organised ready for the big day.
Congratulations on your own loss that's amazing. x

Welcome to the forums and best of luck. There's many sleevers on here, you'll get lots of ideas on their diaries and posts. The milk diet is not too bad, as others have said, keep yourself distracted.

Thanks curly Stacy. I'm on day 3 and currently feeling good, not lost my energy yet but expecting it soon. Hope you feel better soon. I just keep reminding myself that I'm doing this to get my life back so it's got to be in a good cause right? Good luck with your op. Let me know how it goes and we can support each other

Thanks Nafpnd, I'm actually enjoying milk diet, but then again I'm only just about to start day 3. I'm loving this forum it has so many helpful tips, will be a great support. x

Well done Jo .. From now on it should get easier for you , you should have passed the worst ..
How are you feeling in yourself ?

Countrywench I'm feeling really positive, not seen any side effects yet so fingers crossed I have a good experience all round with the pre op diet. I think it helps that I'm at work with friends who are being supportive and then I go home and spend my time preparing for op day. Im posting my progress on Instagram and looking on here which is also providing huge amounts if support. x
