Hi Jo! Welcome to the site and congrats on moving to the losers bench so quickly! Sounds like you are doing ok, have you had any problems getting your liquids down?

Hi Hannah, thanks, glad to have joined the losers bench. Yes, fluids have been a problem. Yesterday was the 1st day I've actually managed 2 litres. I think there were several reasons I managed it, 1, I broke it down into my own specific measures , a beaker of water (it holds a litre), a 500 ml bottle of dilute squash and 2 cups of tea, 2, I had fewer visitors in the day so I was able to focus on sipping, 3, I stopped doing too much so early on sat and watched some tennis I'm gonna take it one day at a time and keep trying.

My main issue is currently constipation. I had forgotten to buy the senna syrup so yesterday and the night before were not happy However, I now have some syrup and I'm hoping it will help improve things.

Anyone else had this problem? x

I think most people suffer constipation :( I have existing bowel issues so the first couple of weeks were horrendous but I take senna every night and hope for the best. It sounds like you have a good plan to get enough fluid in which is great :)

Thanks all, started using senna syrup each evening and this is helping. They did advise it but I stupidly forgot to get some.

I've been reading other post op diets and got a little worried yesterday. My provider advised the liquid diet was only for Day 1 and 2 and that from Day 3 to week 4 I should be on the pureed diet. I saw that most other people were on a liquid diet for all of this period and thought I was doing it wrong.

I checked all my details in case I had read it wrong, but I hadn't, which made me feel a little better. It did say that if you can't cope with puree to go back to nutritious liquids though.

Fortunately I have been great with whatever I have tried so far, but I think I wanted to make sure I wasn't going too far too fast so I made sure yesterday that everything was completely smooth and that's I wasn't having more and stated. Again this eased my mind a little as it confirmed I had been having the right sized portions. What still amazes me is that I have to remind myself to eat because I'm not feeling hungry yet, and that I really do get to a point in the meal when I feel full and know that I can no longer eat a bite, this never used to happen for me Thanks again for all the support, it's really helping me stay focussed.

Mine is like yours Joanne. I'm 15 days post op and am taking "thick liquids". I always feeling full and when I do eat it's 3 teaspoons and that's it. I don't know if this is normal. I also feel as if I have to burp most times coz I feel as if there is something at the back of my throat. I've never been a fan of water but am trying to manage about 1 litre a day.

@SUNSHINE hey sorry to butt in I had this problem and found I had to have more meals throughout the day. Around 4/5 meals. Try not to worry too much as it is normal with the restriction this early on. I have to do the same with burping too as it gets uncomfortable but feel much better after. Just try not to do it so much to the point where you feel you need to vomit.

Thank you so much. I thought that there was something wrong. I'm definitely not eating 4-5 meals a day. Sometimes it's 2 or 3 tops. I'm never hungry but I'll try from tomoro. Thanks for your support

Hi Sunshine, my provider recommends 4 - 6 tiny meals a day to prevent this but I still get the 'burps' too. I'm beginning to realise though that this is me still eating too fast. If I slow down and take a minute between bites this improves and I am able to eat the recommended amount for that meal time before getting the full feeling.

My problem is always over estimating how much food and not being able to leave any so I'm trying to be extra careful and not prepare too much food. I'm still also setting a timer after I eat do that I don't start drinking too soon and ruin the digestion of what littlr food I've eaten. x

Clips out today. This will be my first trip out since the operation and I'm hoping I feel up to going shopping too. My first experience of the supermarket since the op. It's amazing though. I sat to make my shopping list and it is mainly household goods.

The food I am eating is so small things are lasting ages and the food I prepared for the freezer and stocked up in the cupboard hardly seems to be dented.

Loving the cost saving benefits.

As long as I get myself some more houmous I think I'll be set for the week again.

X

Had a great weekend, lots of lovely family time and I've started venturing outside for walks.

Was getting really tired being inside so walked my 10 year old niece back home after one of her visits. She only lived 2 streets away so wasn't a huge walk. It is a walk I have avoided for a good few years. Felt great to be outside also to go for a walk without puffing and panting. Walked round the block later in the day and felt so proud of myself.

I was tired in the evening but felt like I have achieved something. I've now planned 3 mini walks for today. Can't wait until I see Consultant and he clears me for proper exercise. Never thought I'd ever say that in this lifetime!
