Paying for consultations

Could someone tell me please, when you go private and have a consultation, do you have to pay for the consultation?

Not always Gladys.

I had three consultations with three different companies. I paid for one consultation. The reason I was happy to pay for that one was because it was the surgeon I really wanted. I ended up using him and am glad I did.

I didn't pay for any of my 3 consultations but I know some do charge.
