I phone my doctors surgery today to see if they've heard from the pct about my funding, and the receptionist said something about expecting to wait a while because of the meetings about the pct disbanding!! what the hell?
Oh Caren, I really hope this is not happening ... have you checked the net for info? Which PCT is it? God, talk about so near yet so far ... xx

i know, what a bummer i think i'll watch a bypass on you tube and do it myself
hi girls. I'm not sure what's happening down your way Caren, but I work for 4 pcts in the north east and what the government are doing is disbanding pcts from April 2013 and replacing with a number if different organisations including an nhs commissioning board and numerous clinical commissioning groups (ccg's). the ccg's will replace th pcts responsibility for purchasing healthcare for your area which may include bariatric surgery, but as this is deemed as specialist healthcare it may be the commissioning boards responsibility. I would ring your local pct Caren for clarity on what is happening in your area. I can do it for you if you tell me which pct you are under? there is a lot of upheaval in pct land at the moment which isn't being helped by misinformed gp receptionists! sorry for the rant. hope that was helpful! xxx
thank you so much xxx :thankyou:hi Caren. I'm on leave this week but leave it with me and I will do some digging when I get back to work next week. don't worry ... we'll get to the bottom of it! xxx
well if i dont get funding at least my daughter will be happy
i'll have to go for the slapping lol, shes very headstrong and wouldnt listen to my mum or anyone. Ive explained that it will make me live longer and be happy etc but all she can see is me dying :sigh: I'll leave her a letter just in case, saying "you was right"She is only young, Caren & a girl ... is she your only one? Your mum supports you so why don't you get her to have a word .. try to get her to see beyond the actual op. Ashley said to me he wishes I had done it sooner as I deserve a better life & he wants his children (no, don't talk like that, my baby) to know their Nannan for a long time. :wave_cry: Try to put the long term benefits to her rather than concentrating on the actual operation. Why don't you let her read some of the posts on here to reassure her. And if that does not work, slap her silly xxx
