Pleeeeeeeeeeeese dont roll your eyes eeek

i know ill have to see what mr small says, oo i know its a tool, but just the more read on it the more it appealed, i do have some self restraint its just i cant maintain the loss so there fore need surgery i mean 85% of the stomach is taken so to stretch it your talking about eating a huge amount and going through dumping until your stretch it? eeeek i wouldnt do it x thanks for advice peeps

I have a sleeve and started out just a bit lighter than you Kelly. I knew that I didn't want the bypass and I also wasn't keen on the idea of the band, purely because I hated the idea of having a 'foreign body' in me (I'm really squeamish about those things). When I was asked what surgery I would like I said the sleeve and they were delighted. Mixman is right about it only being a tool, but it's really worked for him and I'm really pleased with mine too.

Obviously, everyone will always say that the procedure that they have had is the best, but for me, the sleeve was definitely the way to go. xx

How big do you think the stomach is before we started stretching ours?

It's good that you're researching but you have to think logically too.

They do take 75%-85% of the stomach away, but 75%-85% of a large stomach still makes the stomach that's left fairly big.

I've followed all the rules and being a saint (Some would call me other things lol) but now, 13 months on, I can eat a fair bit if I wanted.

It's very good though if you have control, it does stop you gorging. Which was one of my big big downfalls!

Good luck with whatever is decided xx

your reasons are mine to, hunni, it hit me like slap in the face today and i thought what am i doing?!? agreeing to a band because i dont want a bypass, i absolutly feel 100% that i would like a sleeve, i to think there gonna agree to be honest going for it from mr balupuris reaction when i said band, in the booklet it doesnt mention the sleeve but it does say mr small does them so fingers crossed... ooo i feel all excited x

Oh, forgot to mention. Although the stomach is stapled after the greater portion is removed, it is not the same procedure as the old 'stomach stapling' which is rarely done these days xx

mixxy they classed me as a bulk eater which is what i do, but i do have self control to i suppose with all 3 ops you can cheat and need to have self control, i really feel the sleeve is for me, with the band i was like ooo yep but i didnt feel about it the way i do the sleeve if that makes sense..... lets hope its a all go for me x

good luck Kelly i think you would be suited more to a sleeve than a band x

eeeek liz i feel all excited now ha ooo mr small hopefully agrees he should do the dietacian said to me it was good i was making sure i was choosing the right op and that it shows im looking at all options... i do have loads to lose so i to think its right xx thanks everyone for hearing me go on! ha xx

I have a sleeve as part of a one stage duodenal switch.

It is often done for high BMIs as the first stage of a DS.

It depends on the surgeon how much of the stomach is taken away - my surgeon does particularly tight sleeves apparently.

The optimum weight loss window for a DS is 18 months - after that the sleeve stretches in everybody apparently - though I still have quite good restriction (20 months out).

I think most surgeons who need to do the maladsorption bit of the op go onto do a DS rather than convert to an RNY.

Good luck with your decision

Angela xx

Err my surgeon takes 45 minutes to do the bypass, so his staff told me anyway..
