Pre-op Sheffield Northern General

Keep busy it's the only way, so if you've idle time plan ahead...where can you go...what can you do...all be worth it soon :)

I'm not. Far from it. Feel like throwing towel in.

On this diet I'm peeing what feels like every hour 24/7. I'm not sleeping well. Go to bed and awake every hour for a pee. Feel like constant pressure on bladder from all the liquid.

I'm craving food more and more. Need to eat. Need to taste different things other than milk and yoghurt.

I feel soooo tired. Legs are aching with tiredness but I feel so wound up. Feel like I am going to explode. Beginning to think this is the biggest mistake of my life. I can't take any more ?

I can't even begin to imagine how hard it is and how you're feeling, but really truly do you want to give up now?
You're well over half way there now!
And you know really it's not a mistake at all....this time next week you'll probably be back home, starting out as a slimmer, fitter you.
Lots of luck for the next few days.
Em xxxx

Sorry double post, and I don't know how to delete it

The lack of sleep, lack of food and constant peeing is making me feel like it. Can normally drink a lot more and not feel like this

Do you really want this? Noone is forcing you down this route.....pre op is never easy, post op isn't all sweetness and like either, so you need to get your head and flick that switch, cos I'm sure it's what you want deep down....so now I've booted you up the bum :) work on positive and not negative thoughts, otherwise you may be in for a tough ride...start to list all the good things about this and change your mind around, need to get where you are motivated and buzzing to make this happen, you can do it!!!! :) good luck!!!

Well. After ringing secretary and waiting list coordinator (both on holiday) and a further two colleagues. I am waiting on reply back. Still got constant feeling of bloatedness and need to pee all the time. Waiting on reply back as think the sleep disruption / lack of sleep is what is really behind all this ?

not long now I can't say I know how you feel because I did a different pre op diet but about 5 days before surgery I told my team that I wasn't going to eat anything because I was so fed up they just said that's ok as long as you drink so I didn't get anywhere . The aching is quite normal I think as is the having to go to the loo have you weighed yourself that might give you a little bit of encouragment also you have the weeks after surgery where you don't feel hungry I think it was the first time in my life that I didn't feel hungry. Keep going it will all be worth it. All the best for the 9th. Wendy

You seem to be having a tough time, honey :wave_cry: but so did all us post op'ers. The milk diet is not easy but if you really want to make a life altering difference to your life, you will just have to suck it up & get through the next 4 days as best you can. I also struggled with the constant weeing & hunger but I wanted the operation more than I wanted to eat ... it's all about priorities & even after the op it's not easy ... so you need to decide whether you can do this or not. Throwing in the towel at this stage is such a waste though. What does your wife think? Good Luck with the reply from the hospital ... hope they can set your mind at rest that what you are feeling is normal ... not nice, but normal :wave_cry: xxx

Thanks for the messages.

I got a call back from one of the dieticians this morning.

She assured me everything I was going through was normal, and that they in fact had to do the milk diet themselves so they know exactly what we are going through.

She also suggested peppermint cordial/ tea to relive the bloatedness or even a pro-biotic which does not count as part of allowance. Also said I could use oxo cubes or bouillion to add different tastes/flavours

It's also re-assuring that others are having to pee all the time lol, thought was just me.

I also was very surprised today when I went to Boots to get weighed, Ive lost 17lbs since last Friday

Anyone else suffer badly with their sleep? Font know if it's nerves. Anxiety about op etc

Me !! I'm finding it incredibly difficult to sleep. Mine is a combination of hip/back pain and ever increasing anxiety due to not having a date for my op yet. Tbh it's slipping into depression now.
