I'd do it again any day - though hopefully I'll never have to !
I picked the wrap over the sleeve as I really got rather nervous over some sleevers stories of having had major issues including leaks and bleeds (not Prof A's sleevers I may add). Have a read at Scooter's posts. I'm sure she's a fairly rare case - but too blooming scary for me !
I have a young child and wanted minimal invasion and fast recovery.
I was given a real talking to and warning from Prof A that the procedure is classed as experimental in the UK and I would be his 10th wrapper - though he has done hundreds of bariatric ops and is one of the most highly recognised surgeons for this in the UK.
He told me one of his first patients was a man that he had recommended be bypassed, but insisted on a wrap. He stuffed himself full of everything he could and after an initial very small lost, put on loads more before going back to be bypassed.
Most other patients have had similar results to the sleeve - but you do need to respect it and treat the whole thing as a life change. My head was already in the right place and I'd lost quite a bit before arranging a consultation - so he was happy to proceed right away.
I had NO pain killers at all after surgery and was out the following morning. Life was back to normal really quickly, though it took a while to adjust to the wrap. The restriction is pretty mega in the early days, but a side plate is normal for me these days (not piled !) and I can tolerate any food choice I desire.
I've been very careful the whole way about food choices. For me it is a life change and the restriction is much like a guardian angel on my shoulder. When stress etc gets far too much, I'm not going to have the crutch of carbs and food to go back on.
To be honest, I've had a serious amount of mayhem and stress in my life this week. It's been totally chaotic..... Despite being surrounded by chocolate, I've had no notion of gobbling any. The appeal isnt there any more ! I will once in a while have a teeny weeny kinder bar or something - but that's pretty rate.
I had an assessment by the hospital last month and am due another in February. They checked all my current stats and my losses are above expected targets for the wrap and in par with those expected for a sleeve at this point.
Like anything, you need to make it work. It HELPS, but isn't the only answer.
I avoid bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. I'll have a little of one of those once a week as a treat - but part of a meal. Egg on a crumpet this week ! That makes a big difference for me as means my fat and sugar content is close to non existent.
Weight loss is now slow, but it is still moving. Some weeks better than others..
I've never been brave enough to put on a photo before (am cringing now) but here is a photo from last year ..... and two from a visit to the Christmas markets earlier this month.
Size difference, I think that's 24 (possible 24/26) to 16...
