Protein on liquid stage

Hi guys. Just wondering how you guys managed to get enough protein into your diet immediately after surgery?

I've tried eating chicken soup and yoghurts, but I'm still not getting enough. Milk bloats me right up, so I'm avoiding that, especially alongside this flipping trapped wind! Ouch!

But, I just can't think of any other liquids that I could take to increase my protein.

Hey Hun, I am still on liquids. Another 1.5 weeks to go and I am not getting near enough protein. My diet at the minute is -

Morning - 1/2 actamel yoghurt

Lunch - 1/2 actam yoghurt

Dinner - 1/4 tin of soup (drain all the bits out) and add a little milk to make thinner.

The rest of my day is water and squash and the odd ice lolly to get fluid intake up.

I wouldn't worry too much about protein at this stage it is so hard.

I do similar to Sophia but my medical team urged me to add protein powder. I use a whey powder. They can be expensive but go a very long way.

I got mine in Tesco's. A lot of it on the shelves is for the muscle bound body builders but some is more for health after being ill that sort of thing. Which suits our diet.

I have some in my cupboard it's sculptress strawberry flavour. Do you think that's any good? It is for weight loss x

Ive been wondering this myself Simpkin!

Im only getting mine from milk and Slimfast, and am not anyway near having enough

Danio and liberate strained yoghurts are really good for protein, they are quite thick so would need to blend them with milk. They taste good too

Thanks guys. I never considered protein powders, but it makes sense. My info booklets and diet sheet recommend to get as much protein as possible as this will help speed up the recovery process and heal my wounds quicker.

I also really dislike soy milk on its own, but I think added to thicker yoghurts, as Vegas said, might help to up the protein that bit more! ;)

Have you tried lactofree milk? Tastes normal but has no lactose which is what causes bloating and diarrhoea!

No, I haven't tried lactofree, actually. I've seen it, but I just assumed it was gross, like soy milk. I'll definitely give it a try! Thanks

I bought some whey protein powder recently from bulkpowders.co.uk I tried the unflavoured one so I could add it to any flavour yoghurt, soups and smoothies. It was a very good price and I got a discount for being a new customer. I couldn't taste it either which is great and it has a good amount of protein in it.

I've started on protein - the good whey company flavours were recommended to me and the chocolate is lovely. Also having syntax nectar fruit drink. Got both on line - they are not cheap but hey I am not buying food or wine lol.
